Earlier today (July 2nd), Chris Sigaty wrote up another Dev Blog about HotS and MLG!
Lane Runner by Vortexx2010
The object of Lane Runner is to be the first player to destroy the enemy base at the end of your lane. Use your hero, their skills and various items you may come across to push your lane by destroying each lane marker to unlock the next and then open up the enemy base. You can try to break your record for fastest time to clear a lane, or you can break into other lanes and harass you opponents. Some of the maps key features include customizable hero skills, optional PvP, movable base elements, and puzzle play.
Hey, thanks for the comments.
@ CertusRaven I don't know anyone on EU for release. If someone is interested, PM me.
@Neonsz I have big ideas for this spell system. If the game gets good plays, I'll start to implement them. :)
@Michaelknives Great suggestions, especially the Gates instead of rocks! I do have some lore for the heros on the project page: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/lane-runner/pages/heroes/
@SoulFilcher: Go
A lot of people do like the eSports scene. It's actually pretty amazing seeing a sports bar taken over by gamers and all the screens playing Starcraft instead of random boring ball games.
Answering to Chris Sigaty's blog: I don't like eSports scene and I's like you to stop talking about it and start talking about the campaign and the custom map scene.
Thanks.
I wonder if it is yet released on EU-Servers? Can't wait to try out.
I'm really digging the spell system - haven't seen the likes before. In the sense that you an choose a spell and add on to it
- Map Suggestions:
1) You can create a map selection screen and condense the lanes into 2 different set pieces for variety.
2) You can add more abilities to individual units and implement spell scaling based on veterency upgrades. Any other buffs can be implemented through items from the shop.
3) Create Lore. Why are the heroes running down the lane fighting creeps of contrasting races? Why not include tribes and factions. When players select certain heroes belonging to the same tribe or faction they could receive special bonuses. It's not that hard to make up a story. Perhaps the heroes are in a running man scenario in which hey need to get pass gladiators, fight swarms of zerg and prisoners.
I soloed this map but its a good start. The lane design needs to be a little bit tighter and as opposed to having rock barriers you can easily implement the gates that automatically open and close. Looking forward to updates.
