    posted a message on Custom Campaign Editing- where to look for answers?

    I've been asking around some of the discords (giantgrantgames/synergy) and while I wouldn't say there's "gatekeeping" there certainly seems to be a lack of knowledge and general 'look at 'x forum/discord'' for the answers I'm trying to find.

    TLDR: Seeing GiantGrantGames's campaign manager/nightmare difficulty, and Synergy's recent Warcraft3 Azeroth Reborn, I thought it'd be fun to take a swing myself at inserting the warcraft 3 races into the sc2 campaign.

    I managed to get barracks to produce footmen to my surprise, and I started prepations/notes for balancing the human race, but I've hit a few key walls that halt my understanding of the sc2 editor.

    The main important ones being;

    • What changes are 'forced' during the warcraft 3 dependancy load (ui changes, formation of units changes.)
    • Formation of units- From what I've read it's a trigger, though how to navigate and which is unknown, Looking to restore sc2 movement, as the warcraft3 system of movement is far too sluggish.
    • Warcraft3 'game UI' While the ui is nostalgic, it presents problems, mainly that it removes mineral/vespene count for gold/lumber. Let alone the ui clips out shield numbers, After looking up some guides on how to 'fix' the console skins/change player race, this still has no effect, loading the war3 dependancy 'forces' the human ui.
    • How to edit campaign upgrades. The menu for Armoury, mercenaries, research, I've tried digging through the editor (e.g. find marine shield upgrade). Most I can find is a string that says 'story mode upgrade' but I can't find the 'root' menu where I could actually change it, let alone change the unit/associate upgrade.

    There are some minor issues like sound errors at the dependency load, but I've read that's a memory issue- also not critical to the changes I'm looking to make.

    It's frustrating given the rise of these recent custom campaigns that there seems to be no information at all on how these are being made, I recall Grant said there'd be a special 'how nightmare difficulty was made' video but I've not heard of it since.

    Any advice would be appreciated. (apologies if this is an innapropriate forum to ask but I've been getting too many 'go ask someone else'.

    Honestly it's like asking a sandwhich maker what part of the fridge they keep tomatoes and getting told to 'go ask the farmer, but you'll need to declare yourself a chef role to see the farmer forum'.
