Oh wow, this is a COMMENDABLE effort so far. There are very very few maps on the Arcade that manage to create a unique, cohesive and striking atmosphere that really differentiates itself from ordinary Starcraft 2, even though I think it is such an important and valuable thing for a map/mod to have.

You, however, seemed to have absolutely nailed it so far. I hope the music and sound design live up to the bar the visuals have set so far. Also, never be afraid to utilize custom UI assets/graphics to better tie together the identity of your map.

Im curious to see how this will unfold.

I dont really know about this, but Im a filmmaker myself aswell and have created several Starcraft movies aswell, some in cooperation with SC2mapsters, too, including a full-length SC2 machinima movie. Check em out if you like.

    HereĀ“s the full-length SC2 movie I made:

And heres another short SC2 film of mine (made for the Blizzcon 2013 contest), which is of overall much higher quality than the full-length movie:

Can players of Starcraft 2 that only have the free Starter Edition upload maps, regardless of what expansion the map uses? Basically to get more map upload space.

I understood you the first time you said it.

Anyways, I think it would be cool to have a top 5 video, not too send to TB, but just for people to see in general. You just have to be a little careful with ranking things if you decide to actually rank them in order. People tend to get upset if they don't agree with your rankings and others will take it too seriously as the be all end all. Just make sure you specify that is your ranking... I don't even know why I'm talking about all this - you know what you're doing.

Why rank them at all? Why not just have a video called "5 awesome Arcade maps" or something? Most Arcade maps are so different from each other that comparing them really is kinda pointless and as such a ranking wouldnt make any sense anyways.

TotalBiscuit has pretty much quit social media as far as I know. I don't blame him either. There are a lot of assholes to deal with out there, especially when you are as popular as him, on top of the fact that he's dealing with cancer.

I still think it would be cool to have a video with the top 5 or so campaigns out there right now. Maybe even do additions to this video later on.

Yes, and he doesnt take requests.

Just so you guys know: TotalBiscuit doesnt take requests. At all. He has explicitly stated this multiple times.

It is likely that any request video you might make or email you send him that seems like a request wont be viewed at all.

Mh, you could just make a private lobby and then open it to the public, thus creating another public lobby. Doesnt that work? But yeah, I do still agree with your post.

Hi kengddie! The attention my mod was getting from the asian market has not been lost on me, however, ofc I cant quite judge the exact extent as I dont speak chinese, or any other asian language for that matter. I actually wasnt aware that you cannot upload maps onto the chinese battle.net, I just assumed that it was one of the asian servers.

Can you not atleast play on any of the other asian servers (though the mod is currently broken on the other asian servers and I will fix it once Blizzard fixed the current mp3 issue)?

In any case, I really appreciate that you and many other chinese players think so highly of my mod, its one of the greatest things for an artist to see their art appreciated and I really hope you can enjoy the mod at some point. Maybe, like TheAzureGuy suggested, a middleman would be the way to go, I would have to look into that though and I dont want to spend too much time on Total Destruction anymore, so we will see.

    Quote from joey101d: Go

i think its inheritly hard to get a 1v1-only game off the ground. at the beginning it will almost always be the creator vs some noob. he has no allies to get advicse from or experience to know what he is doing. even if you get to the point where there are some fans that actively play, you will run into the same problem of them crushing noobs and nobody having allies to talk to or learn from.

One could make it a 1v1 game where you have multiple players in the game, but only 2 people fight each turn. Basically like those spectator melee maps. Problem solved.

Psionic Warfare: Total Destruction (shameless plug)

After you complete beginner mode, you will be hard pressed to find a mod on the Arcade that requires more twitch skill then Total Destruction. Even with a team full of veterans, you will very rarely be able to beat it. Its also hardcore in the sense that it takes a long time (1 full playthrough can take about 2,5 hours) and the entire time it is just relentless.

    Quote from Forge_User_04585675: Go

If people bothered to read up about MP3 there is a reason why they may have dropped support... Quote:

The basic MP3 decoding and encoding technology is patent-free in the European Union, all patents having expired there. In the United States, the technology will be substantially patent-free on 31 December 2017 (see below). The majority of MP3 patents expired in the US between 2007 and 2015.

Since Blizzard is a USA registered company they have to recognize the patent and as such using MP3 decoders is not free for them. Their migration from a game/expansion model to DLC might have violated the MP3 codec licence or resulted in it being uneconomical and forced them to remove it.

If you look at ogg... Quote:

Ogg is a free, open container format maintained by the Xiph.Org Foundation. The creators of the Ogg format state that it is unrestricted by software patents[2] and is designed to provide for efficient streaming and manipulation of high quality digital multimedia.

As such they would want to migrate to ogg as there are no issues with licencing in the USA.

I feel like this is the more likely explanation - or it is a bug. In any case, an official statement would be warranted.

Well, it's a precise joke, self-glorifying haughty noobs with their pity accomplishments is a typical character in indie gamedev. Easy to fall into.

As if I considere myself a gamedev, lol.
