Alright I'm looking for the easiest and most efficient way of doing this. I've been all over Google and the forums trying to find this.
So I have a custom UI; a hotbar at the bottom of my map and images with a hotkey (much like WoW) and a description of a spell I want to use. I want to be able to hit, say, hotkey "5" and initiate an ability in the same way having the default UI and buttons work. For example, I tried to do blink and I wanted to hit "5" and bring up the search then, when I click a point, it'll blink me there. That, and I'd like the Psi Storm Search Area circle thing to come up if I hit another hotkey so that when I click it'll cast Storm there.
I've tried doing Issue Order to Unit "at target point" and "at target unit" but to no success. This is my first time messing around with custom UIs and stuff! Thanks ahead of time!
Obviously, when you try to use an ability of a selected unit when the UI is hidden, the hotkey doesn't register with that ability (which seems stupid). I've been trying to create a dialog which would hold these ability buttons like a command card but I really don't know how to do it and I really don't want the UI involved.
This is what I need to know:
A) Can I make the UI transparent? This would make it there and able to use the hotkeys while not showing up.
B) How do I apply hotkeys for spells into a dialog box? What kinds of dialog items do I use?
C) I've tried to do this with solely triggers (which I totally wanted to avoid) where "Any player uses X key..."
I've searched Google and I've tried putting a few ideas together for two or three hours. I have no idea how to do it.
Thanks ahead of time!
So believe it or not, that's my map on the editor. Yesterday, the editor didn't have a giant white for constricting my vision. I've tried hundreds of times to get rid of the dam thing but to no avail.
When I play the map as normal, it works perfectno problem at all. However, in the editor it looks like this...
I thought it was an issue with the fog or map height but after changing those it didn't work. I saw that if I turned my camera down as if below the fog, it went away. At closer look though it didn't matter how close I got to the map. It seems that if I go at any angle above 100 degrees it just cuts to white.
The normal games runs perfect and the test runs perfect. It's impossible to edit under those circumstances...
If you can help me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

@Kueken531: Go
Well balls. So now I will be learning to edit the layout files. Thanks! If you could, where do I get started with this process?

Edit: Mistype.

I fixed it. I should look at the forum before posting.
If you need help however, just change your "Layer" to "Terrain."
Thanks anyway!

Side note, I didn't cross out "no problem at all..." It just happened...
