posted a message on FFA 8 Person 1v1 Tournament

I was thinking about a game mode in which it would be an 8 person game kind of like FFA, however you can only attack one person, so it will be like a 1v1, then when you win a match, many different things could happen as this is the most scratchy part.

    • You could maybe have your units frozen until another person has finished their match and then you will be matched against them.
    • Or you could have everything destroyed, spectate on all, then start over against the next person to win a match. If you lose you gain spectating on all players for the rest of the match. You might be placed in a losers bracket or you could just be out. I like this plan better than the first.

Another way you could do this instead of an 8 person map is a small map like Steppes Of War copied and pasted 4 times into one SC2 map, then your minimap and game space is limited to your Steppe. This would limit observing capabilities as you have to watch 3 different games at once. In an 8 person map, everyone is on one map. They can't attack eachother and you could probably have your army have pathing through enemy units to prevent a player from causing another player to win a battle in something such as zealots vs stalkers, a player could intercept the zealot army then hold position. I think this would also be fun to be able to interact with other players that aren't allies but aren't enemies.

ANOTHER feature that could be implemented is bigger maps as the tournament progresses. Such as the first map is Steppes, then maybe a little bigger, then the final could be on a four person match. Problems may come up with space, but I think it's a good idea. Who cares if you can see one map from another, as long as you can't get to it.

I think this would be a fun game mode, just some kind of tournament. I don't think you can but I think it would be cool if you could see your opponents rank in 1v1 ladder, or possibly use Battle.Net matchmaking features, trying to make games as balanced as possible.

    And whats a shmoe? :D
