posted a message on Icon Artist Recruitment

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for an icon artist to draw icons based on names of abilities. This is a very creative and unconstrained job so I hope you good artists out there will like it. Basically I'm going to tell you the ability names along with a brief description of what it does, then, it's up to you to decide what the icon looks like. If anyone's interested, please reply and perhaps upload a design for an icon that matches this ability:

    • Piezo-electric Shock: lighting originates from the Stalker's top and shocks all nearby enemy units. The stalker needs two seconds channeling time and here a blue pulse will surround the stalker.

So I'll know your skills at icon drawing etc.

posted a message on HoX'N Development is now Online

    Hi everyone,

Heroes of Xel'Naga (HoX'N) is an third-person role playing map I've started developing.

The Map is much like a third person shooter type of game. It starts with a UI for your to pick a hero after you hit select, you get your hero on the map. Control it with WASD and click to shoot (though it will only attack if there is something for it to attack nearby). Lock on to targets by holding the right mouse button, point the screen at an enemy and white halo will appear around it. The map is only in its first stages of development, but that's the basic idea.

Take a look at the latest map I've updated on my Team Pages, if you like it and know how to contribute, please reply and let me know. Tell me what's you're good at and you have a place on the team. All I ask for is regular contributions.

    Currently, I'm looking for:

    • Icon Artists
    • Data Editors
    • Trigger Programmers
    • Hero Designers
    • Terrain Designers

These roles are only there for better organization. In truth, anyone can join as long as they have something to contribute. I will regularly update the Team Page Issues Needing Resolution. If anyone has any ideas how to help the problem, just post a reply with the solution, or your idea of a solution. We'll see if it works. Those on the team can access the internal discussion page which will be where we define our next goals and discuss any improvements on the map etc.

I hope the map making process will be as enjoyable as the final map!

    Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble using a feature of this forum. Say for example I wanted to attach a picture to my post or attach my map. I may be dim, but how do I do this? I don't understand the Add Picture button, it pops a window showing a text box to type a URL, what does that mean?

posted a message on Question on Armor/Shield/Weapon Upgrade UI

    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to hide the small zero at the bottom right corner of the Armor/Shield/Weapon upgrade icons in the unit's info panel. I'm not sure if that's what it's called but i'll attach a picture circling what I'm talking about.

    What I'm Talking About

So is there a way to hide the number because my unit will not have any upgrades associated with it at all.

    Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on Question on Selection Circles

    Hi everyone,

Simple question: how do I hide the selection circle of a unit? In other words, when you select the unit, it does not show the green circle thing at the base of the unit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on Question on Unit Training Time

Thanks a lot, it solved my problem instantly. Actually, to tell the truth, I'm finding the Data Editor a bit complicated. For example, in Warcraft Editor it used to be just a field, real simple. But here it took me ages to find. But maybe this way is more flexible, I don't know really.

Thanks anyway, that was really helpful.@VoidPotato: Go

posted a message on Question on Unit Training Time

    Hi everyone,

This might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the value for the time it takes to train a unit anywhere in the unit fields. Perhaps I've missed something but the fact is I can't specify how much time it takes to arm a Nuke in the Ghost Academy. Can anyone help me?

    Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on Question on Actor Attachements

    Hi everyone,

I recently made an actor that creates when a persistent effect is created. However, I'm having trouble attaching the created actor to something. The persistent effect is always created at the caster unit and will move with the caster unit, however, the actor is stuck at the units origin. I want to make it overhead.

Does anyone know how to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on Question on Beams

    Hi everyone,

I'm recently making an ability that creates a persistent effect around the caster unit that will shock nearby enemies every 2 seconds. Basically, I created a persistent effect that has an initial delay of 2 seconds (to stop the first shock) and a periodically activates search area effect which will in turn place a damage effect on the appropriate units. This part all worked okay, as i see enemy units around it getting damaged. However, the problem comes when I created a beam for the "shock" effect. I am honestly rubbish when it comes to beams: i followed the tutorial on Beams (Basic) and took me around three hours just to get the first beam to work.

Anyway, i think my problem is with not understanding the logic behind the beams. I mean, i don't see any field where it explicitly says where to attach the beam's ends or when to create it. And why does it need two actors?

Can someone please explain the logic behind creating beams?

Understanding it will lead to much less questions in the future where beams are concerned.

posted a message on Making Icons for requests

    Hi,

Can you make a ability icon for me? It basically shows Zeratul stabbing somebody in the back, or doing a silent kill on somebody. The name of the abilityis called Backstab, if that gives you any ideas. :)

    Any help would be appreciated.
