posted a message on Terrain Controlling Buttons

I am trying to make a unit ability that can control terrain. For example, a unit ability that can make an island appear or disappear. I understand that a large portion of this question involves figuring out how to make actors that can act like terrain. If anyone has an explanation for how to accomplish any part of this, please explain it to me. I am lost.

posted a message on publish trouble

I have had a lot of trouble publishing. I finally found a series of exact steps that, only if I follow, it publishes.

1 ) Load up map. (the process doesn't work unless you start fresh by restarting the editor)

    2 ) Test the game

3 ) Quit the test (do not quit starcraft 2 yet)

    4 ) Login to Battlenet

    5 ) Quit Starcraft 2

6 ) Return to editor and open the publish menu

7 ) Login in the publish menu

    8 ) Publish the game

Failure to follow any of these steps in their order either, for me, results in the uploader not even trying to publish, getting stuck at 55%, getting stuck at 99%, or failing somewhere in the 90% range. I hope these steps work for you.

posted a message on Help with blank background

Can someone explain to me how I can give myself a blank background. I am trying to give the effect of deep space. I have read through several other posts about similar topics and have already investigated the terrain sets in the data editor. After removing the values that i thought controlled the background picture, I was unable to place any units in the editor, Even after reseting all my changes. I then realized I could create a map with no terrain. But, I was then unable to move the units (even flying ones) when the game started. Can someone either explain to me how I remove the validator that is preventing objects from moving without terrain or in detail how i remove the background image. Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean by "attach a morph". Can you please explain specifically how to do that? The way I have been trying to do it is by copying exactly what the "neosteel frame" upgrade does but for different models.

I am trying to make marines change their appearance when a certain upgrade is researched for them. Similar to how the bunker changes when you research "neosteel frame". Everything else about the upgrade works as intended but when I try to add the actor effect that changes the model, the editor crashes. Every time. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong that causes it to crash?

posted a message on Help uploading map to SC2mapster

    @progammer: Go

I appreciate someone finally responding but what you said doesn't solve my problem.

First, the folder I found after exhaustively searching my hard drive for anything related to starcraft or Battlenet is "Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net/cache" (keep in mind I'm on a mac) but doesn't seem to have any files of extension ".sc2map" or ".sc2ma". All the folder contains are 257 folders with 2 digit names and crap inside and 1 folder named download that contains downloaded files related to the blizzard in game news. I recently found a nearby folder that seems more promising "Users/Shared/Blizzard/Starcraft_II/Maps/cache" as some of the folder names I recognize from the campaign. The vast majority of these folders have crap names and I think these are the downloaded maps. The problem is that every one of these folders contains the same file "hardTile.bin". Extracting doesn't seem to do anything productive. Is there a way to convert these files?

Second, I understand that my project need to be approved but, having already uploaded a first version of my map to bnet, can't the approver just play it through bnet?

Third, your suggestion to mark my project as beta to get past having to upload a map to this site doesn't help because my project has been marked as beta the whole time.

posted a message on Help uploading map to SC2mapster

I am new and am trying to start my project. The approval came back telling me to upload a copy of my map. I do not want to upload the editor file because of some threads I have seen concerning map stealing, but I am unable to figure out how to upload a locked copy to this site. I have found the Bnet folder that I believe stores downloaded maps but they are written in a way that I am unable to distinguish between them and determine which is mine. I found a program on this site that is suppose to help decode the files in this folder but it is for windows and I am editing on a mac. Can someone explain to me where I obtain a locked copy of my map that I can upload to this site?
