Xackery your method works great. The tiny problem I'm facing is that on my map, identical units of that same ability are created on the map as it is being played...so all these units will face the same laser sight error.
Does anyone of you know a way to add/edit new globals of which Xackery referred to, trigger-wise?
Nvm. Got it working. I thought the Search Area effect comes first, as in it searches the area for targets and then create the persistent effect. But actually it's using 1 create persistent effect with plenty of offsets, and then apply a series of create persistent effects on those offsets to reveal them.
I've an item that gives a certain behavior to the equipping unit. The problem is that equipping more of the same item just doesn't stack the additional behaviors. Now the max stack count for the it has been set to many.
Been using Search Area effect and a create persistent effect to reveal the searched area but to no success. The closest I've come is using caster unit as launch location and impact location, and target unit at the persistent effect location. But this revealed all units in the surrounding area rather than surrounding area itself.
Trying to make an increased coned line of sight 120 degree in front of unit, on top of the normal LOS 360 degrees around. Intention is to use the data editor. Appreciate it if someone would help.

Alright I got it. Under behavior > behavior modifications > modify flags > reveal - set to enable.
