We should compile a thread for a listing of all the current limitations/restrictions in the editor....
is there such a thing already? if so, excuse this thread, if not, help this thread! Post links if you can. If this catches on I will make sure to keep this post updated, bolding all confirmed items
1.3.X:
Loop actions: 370366
Max characters in one line: <2048
Doodads: 10000
Map code: 2mb 2^21 bytes
am I going to run into problems when I have a single trigger setting all 120 region array values? it seems there is no way to run it through a loop, and my code requires on-the-fly variable region checking, so it seems I have to go
set region[1] = x
set region[2] = y
set region[3] = z
....
set region[120] = a
edit: there would be 8 triggers to do this (yes thats like manually setting about 1000 variables)
too many limitations. why cant you support massive games? what is it hurting? who gives a shit if its 20megs, if you got a slow connection dont play it!
Does anyone know what kind of limitations are in the galaxy editor? like each trigger can only be so many bytes long, or you can only have so man gui actions before it stops doing them. maximum doodads, maximum total triggers, maximum variables? are any of these numbers known?
I heard you cant because its a language thing. certain text being returned between players can be different if someone has a different version. all sorts of global game play text varies from country to country.
the hacks were just mpq mods, changing text values to get a more wide range of options. if wc3c ever comes back online there was a list of things that the hack allowed.
I havent played with the data editor enough yet, I can use it, and make things work, but its just a change from the WE that is more so annoying than it is unlimited.
for building a tall wall or something, I would just do it with triggers. something like that was possible in the UI trigger editor in WE
Hi guys, been around the mod community forever, I was a moderator over at wc3campaigns during their peak and have been involved in dozens of projects over the years, maps and tools. I picked up the modding crack, as I like to call it, pretty young with the switch triggering in starcraft, and various GUI based game makers (like rpg makers). I released the first hacked Frozen Throne compatible world editor (FyreDaug's TWTFE lol, how creative), before merging with Scio (UMSWE original) which is before WEU and all those goodies released within that year when pretty much everything got merged.
I've been silently working with the galaxy editor without a beta key since the editor was released, and have logged lots of hours of a mixed-style gameplay map, and so far im happy with the functionality enough that by the time the game is legitimately released, itll be in beta phase.
Basically im mid 20's mechanic, own a courier company and pay myself to run the company and maintain my own cars which I dont have to pay labor for, and rent those cars out to my employees. so now I have time to get back into the community, and I figured I might aswell atleast introduce myself. sc2 is so far everything I wished wc3 was at the time.

I'm definitely guilty of not giving a crap about starcraft 2

if each brick were to be a model in sc2, and you wanted to have that many, I can only imagine it using up tons of resources.
