Yeah, I've been using my tablet to texture the terrain and it's a lot more comfortable than using the mouse. I still need the mouse to zoom in/out, but I can move the camera around by holding the right-click button on my pen.
To select units, press Space, which should toggle the selection mode. Double-click a unit to edit its properties. Press Space again to switch back to placement mode.
