posted a message on How to make $$$ from maps

For mapster revenue sharing... though this is a tough one to tackle, I do think that there could be a way to add to mapster's worth. Presently mapster isn't much more than a forum and place to host our teams. Now, I'm not knocking that because I see growth every week and SC2 hasn't been out that long. :P What I'm getting at is that I think there could be a bit /more/ for the teams and individuals here. Once that 'bit more' is available, I would gladly become a premium member (again). So, perhaps include a more in-depth team management area (something along the lines of BaseCamp for project management).

As for how to 'give back' to the community for their map making... perhaps the focus should be on things that others use (akin to addons) like SWJ's circle hero selection mod. These are designed to help the entire community of mappers and not just the end-users. :D

For the mappers themselves creating some awesome maps... that /is/ a hard call to make. Since the popularity system is 100% fail, you could perhaps give back to them for including the SC2Mapster logo on their load screen and/or in game. I'd like to see an in game billboard ad personally. ;) In addition to this, there could be monthly (or weekly? but I think that is too often) community polls as to which maps are the best of the best from design, aesthetics, polish, etc. Something like Woot.com's derby for shirts. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone.

I'm tired and haven't slept... there is more rattling around upstairs but I haven't the attention to keep typing. soooo.... more later

posted a message on The Map Testers List

Another thought btw... Why not make a special 'section' (like map review, off topic, triggers, etc) for map testers? In addition to having everyone on each others' friend lists, they could make a post that they're looking for testers @ a specific time... :D Or some calendar or event feature... again, just a thought. :P

What version of the map will be played? There are multiple, and the best ones aren't on top, and so on.

    I'm wondering this as well.

Also, any intention of having a US tournie? :P

I think a rating system is an OK idea, however it would rise the postcount on this thread by a huge deal, also it would be alot more work. I'm thinking I could do something easy like coloring peoples nick with green if they have been vouched (as a tester) by someone - whom wrote in this thread.

About the blacklist, it would be very hard to keep track of that and trolls could just throw in a bad word for anyone.

What do you think about the green coloring? Atleast it would give people a hum about who actually helped with testing sometime.

I like the green coloring idea. And I'm not saying blacklist anyone for just one post... but something (that I / we haven't yet come up with) may work. XD

I've stopped testing for anyone who isn't on my friend's list since I come on here and add everyone every week or so. So, it kinda gives pref. to those who have been on the list already and prevents me from helping those who won't even put their name on the list! XD Just my personal boycott of those who don't play well with others. L2Share ppl! lol

Also, I looked through the code markups for the forum and couldn't find anything (but that doesn't mean it isn't possible) to allow you to create collapsible regions w/ in a post. Maybe a mod could help out w/ that, but it would clean up that first page a lot! And, since I don't need the EU or SEA regions, I (and others) could collapse them. :D

Another idea to both keep this thread clean and neat would be to have a mod come through and delete all the posts (dated before) an 'ALL CLEAR' post that would let them know that you've updated everything up to that point. This would also prevent trolls and members from using this thread (and any future 'monitoring' abilities involved) to boost their post count. This may also help to keep the posts to a 'standardized format' which should make your job a bit easier. It /may/ also encourage people to actually friend everyone already on the list as well. lol

Also, sry for the long delay in my response. I've been sick for the last week. :(

Just some thoughts though... I've got lots of 'em rattling around up there! ;)

Today I was thinking about sexy Zergling pets. They started getting very worked-up over their last serious relationship with irritating forks, But little did they know Zeratul was dead... After Kerrigan touched his sack of marbles which detonated him. This was not now, But then bobby threw a muffin at molsterr, who looked like a frog and barked. Jim heard bobby fornicating about God. This was excruciatingly in my shoe which exploded. However, It was extremely bad timing because the dildo went home unhappy. Meanwhile he concentrated deeply, thinking about chicken porn magazines featuring bicycle explosions fast-forwarded to the next cataclysm.

About Reptar was doing homework and supercalifragilisticexpialidocius stuff iMisu was inside its head playing a game of jumping jacks and solo parcoring of electrical novelties about murlocs frontier killing innocent Trogdors around the backside because it incredibly needed cock sparrow which attacked the waffle-iron cabinet after extruding nails about nothing.

Unsurprisingly Jim fell in too deep whilst performing in the Cirque du Soleil with five mapsters. Suddenly about fifteen mudkips came drunkenly dancing like Michael J. Fox into my geodesic dome. Why

That actually wouldn't do anything I don't think. I'm pretty sure that all the collision detection, damage calc, etc. is handled server side to prevent tampering. Though I haven't looked into it, I'm just assuming that this is the case as it is with many (most?) other online games. ;)
