1 B. If you change something in the map that has a mod-file attached via dependency, it's map specific. If you change the mod-file for that dependency, you change it for every map that has that mod file. 2. if it is a custom mod file you have to publish it first, if it is a standard mod it's already on battle.net or you attached a mod from battle.net then you also don't need to upload it.

Thanks for the reply. So if I start a new map (newmap01) with say.. swarm.mod dependency attached, then edit a unit from that dependency (marine) without duplicating it and then I save the map. The nex time I create a different map (newmap02) with swarm.mod dependency, the unit will have those changes?- Or to make changes on MOD files you have to open them separately instead of attaching them as dependency?

Sorry about my noob questions, Im trying to understand the logic to make things easier.

posted a message on Dependencies: When to duplicate stuff [Solved]

    Hi again, newbie question:

When you start a new map and check some dependencies..

1.- A - you duplicate stuff so you dont mess your other maps/game experience OR you duplicate stuff when you are going to use 2 variants of the same unit in the same map?

1.- B - If you change a unit in a map without duplicating it and save the map, will it change it on every map or is just for the actual map you are working on?

    2. When you publish a custom map with custom units, it includes the modified units (no matter what dependency they are from) or you need to provide a MOD or something elese?

    Thanks

posted a message on Duplicating Terran structures question [Solved]

Hello, Im new to the data editor and I have a question related to duplicating stuff.

For example: I created a Custom Command Center structure that trains custom Unit "SCV Custom". That Works ok. It took me some time to detect that when I upgrade the Command Center or Lift + Land it the structure changes and the SCV trained is the original SCV. I didnt find any info regarding this so I tested a lot of things to solve it until I discovered that duplicating the lift ability, Command Center Flying, land hability I was able to mantain the Custom Command Center after lifting it.

This happens with all terran structures that fly + building upgrades like tech reactors, fortress, etc.. and is a big pain to work it out. Is there any way to make it more simple?

    @Sanctus1118: Go

There was a conflict (I guess) with the dependencies, I think i duplicated the wrong SCV. Duplicating the correct SCV solved this problem.

posted a message on Temporary invisible structure w/ Dup. Builder (Solved)

Hello, im new at WC2 Editor, I've managed to create some nice things with it, but now im stucked with some strange issue.

I duplicated an SCV, SCV main actor and Build Abilitie, tested = As soon as structures are built (100%) with Custom SCV they become invisible for maybe 10 to 15 secconds.

    Sample

The SCV on the left is the standard SCV, the one in the right is the Custom SCV. Any clue?
