    posted a message on Zergling Blood 2013 BETA

    Sup? Just joined, so I thought I'd let you guys know about my map. I'm remaking Zergling Blood, simply called Zergling Blood 2013 for now. The latest beta should be available to public. Why? Because the only good one out there has been discontinued, and wasn't that good in the first place. Also, this was my favorite map back in the day and I just want a quality map with quality features to play. I'm close to being done with it. I've been working on it, on and off for a couple months now and I'm about 75% done. I haven't made a map since I did some versions of "Tremors" back in Brood War, so I've been having to relearn everything, so it's taking some time. But I just finished the last of the difficult trigger sets, and the only thing left to do is mash away on creating Mercs, Bosses, creating additional content and doing EXTENSIVE unit and upgrade balancing, which I've come to find out is extremely challenging. What I'm most happy about so far, is my mass attack controls and how perfect they work. That may seem small to you guys, but I had a bitch of a time getting both the zergling mass controls and merc mass controls to work separately. Some other features I've either added, working on, or will add...

    -All mercs are grown from larva, including spine crawlers.

    -Larva has a 'Select Hive' button. Took me HOURS to figure that one out, but was worth it.

    -Both zerglings and mercs have a 'Retreat' button, where they will ignore enemies.

    -Only 4 mercs for now, but I plan on having 20+.

    -Periodic income. It currently isn't, but will be, upgradable. (Income is also awarded by kills)

    -Useful Kill Board. As opposed to a not useful one...

    -I will be adding random treasure drops, which will go to whoever destroys them first (Lots of HP). Will have a quick vote at start of game, to turn off or on.

    -I will be adding Boss battles, with a voter to turn off or on. Also, I plan on giving players the option the buy a Boss battle at will, either for fun or strategic play.

    -I will be adding timed power ups as well. I.E. 30 seconds of flame attacks for all zerglings, or something similar.

    -Anyone ever play Zergling vs. Zealot vs. Marine Blood back in the day? I'll be adding a voter to turn on Zealots and Marines, which can replace your zergling spawn at the click of a button. Zealots and Marines will have their own unique advantages and short comings, effectively creating a rock, paper, scissors aspect of gameplay.

    Although I'm about 75% done, I expect the process of unit balancing to take quite a while.

    The map is available to play right now, complete with victory conditions. But remember that it's just a Beta and be sure to leave some feedback, particularly on the level layout and upgrade balance.

    By the way, is it possible to increase the larva spawn distance from the hive(I've tried using the offsets, but to no avail)? Or enlarge a units actor? That sounded dirty.
