I was kinda disappointed with the roachlings in heart of the swarm. Drew what I expected them to look like:
Idk, modeling challenge maybe. Might model it myself sometime later.
I have been learning html and css since the last time we talked about this subject. But now that you bring it up sc2mapping and modding is very niche... Perhaps were we as a community to create a new site, we could expand the subject from being solely sc2 modding? we could expand the subject into multiple blizzard games, separate areas for modeling, mapping and modding? Having more things like that would draw more traffic in.
Or maybe polycount.com if your just into modeling, the community there is very active and will be sure to help you become much better very quickly. the people there are pretty great.
I think the interest in the artist tavern and the art aspects of sc2 are limited to a select few who frequent this forum, some of which are attempting to make tutorials for a largely nonexistent audience. It's not really that your bad its just that there's really not that many people with said interest here...
If you want some real attention you should move to a different mod community, such as skyrim nexus, or maybe minecraft if that's your thing. I really wish there was more interest here, but i doubt its going to get better.

Really the only changes I atually made where to put a plate on its back, make its mouth more like the roaches, and change the claws slightly.

4 legs, your probably mistaking the claws for legs. I know there is a lack of contrast.

Yeah I did this one without any reference, I'll see if I can make some proper reference sketches

Yeah for a general rule of thumb, you cant have any 90 degree angles in normal maps. They just wont show properly.

blenders grid fill tool would work so well with this art style.

To make the models actually viable for realtime gameplay, duh. you get 5 or 6 22k poly hydras and stuff is going to start lagging.
