Why would anyone care about monetization. This might not be a point of view anyone else shares.
But I honestly don't understand the point of doing anything other than for the enjoyment of doing it. If money is motivation, to me the entire task is a waste of time.
Then again, I've never been in a situation where I needed money. So it's possible desperation or necessity brings out another, and my views on this matter are uninformed.
I'd work for free ideally for the rest of my life. I am aware the possibility of that is unlikely. Star Trek got this right.
You can enjoy and same time earn from it. Many enjoy from what they do even if they earn from it.
THE Card Game would be not so great map if it was not supportive community what motivates to keep supporting it.
1. Buy website server (more commonly known as website hotel) for your popular map.
2. Make professionally looking website.
3. Get google Adsense, Microsoft Pubcenter or Yieldbuild to accept your site as their "advertiser" site.
4. Make gamers who loves to play your map aware of your website.
Then just keep working with your map projects, when gamers like your work, you can gather quite nice community to show your latest mapping work.
I can give Fortress Fight to SEA if anybody is interested, current published version is quite good in EU but almost nobody plays it there.
It is more advanced map than some Nexus Fight.
- Good AI opponents who know how to nuke.
- 3v3v3v3 Arena.
- Units attack bases clockwise.
- Using proper units to counter is important.
- In beginning of match players of match vote how many rounds match has and more.
- Three very different playing mechanics (SCV, Probe and Queen).
Assuming map would become popular in SEA, I would continue to keep it updated for quite while.
Final Fantasy VII map should be played again as it was bugged when it was first tried.
THE Card Game and Fortress Fight are both great maps.
Kerrigan's Ultimate Wars Arena is also nice map.
There is tons other great maps from other map authors but I have not really played them much as nobody would join to lobby in public game or to put it rather, very unlikely even if wait hours.
Also fact that European version has third resource type what is used for unit upgrades, adding even more depth. I try to wake that guy up who is supposed to update USA version of map to newest one.
Making maps is valid way to get recognized. While map making is hobby, it is way different from hobby like going to forest and camp there. There is nothing wrong to become popular via map making if you are enough good at it.
I like my own map so I figured here should be thread related to it. www.revolutionalarts.com has wiki for list of cards etc.
I have played more than hundred matches of that map in battle.net. I could say that I have became quite good in it. Also battle.net players has found nice tactics in it like four zergling cards and shields card.
Those who has no idea what map is, it is about getting minerals over time to draw cards automatically and gain vespene over time to use them.
Teams are automatically balanced to make matches fair 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3. It has some cards like Nuke what really can't be balanced without scaling cost based to amount of targets it nukes.

Siege Mode bugs if Siege Tank is hero and causes it to recover full HP.
