Regarding the pause option, I think it could be abused if there is no cooldown. Disabling pause for 30s or so whenever used would be ideal I think. It would allow players to have a break once in a while, but at the same time not allow for abusive behavior (ie. constantly pausing/unpausing).

Pause may however not be neccessary if you choose to implement slow powerups (along with the others). And I really do like the idea of it - you should try to play around with that.

I do like the concept, although I kept hitting enter instead of space. I also feel like having a break once in a while might be worth implementing. Either a skipable break after X levels, or perhaps a non-abusable pause option. Aside from that, I did enjoy playing it.

Exporting through the trigger editor's image browser has for some reason not been made possible. You'll have to use the data editor for that.

    - Since the reviews are not constructive at all, and some of them don't even make any sense, I could think of some map makers who are sending bad reviews to all the other games taking part in this contest in an attempt to nullify the other candidates. Did you have any similar experience with the maps you submitted to the contest?

    - The other possibility could be that the gameplay seems little confusing to the new players, causing them to end loosing badly. That would mean that I should focus on preparing a tutorial to teach new players how to play the game before the deadline.

I find it very hard to believe that map makers would purposely rate other maps poorly. Chances are your map is either troublesome to learn as a newcomer (players generally have very little patience to learn how to play - not to mention even reading a tutorial), or you've just experienced the random occurrence of an undescribably unconstructive review caused by some odd reason you will never know.

I think you would be better off asking for permission to use some of the already-made melee maps for Starcraft II or StarBow. There's hundreds of great maps out there, just waiting to get used, and they come in pretty much any size and variety. You can browse maps in the Melee Development subforum, or on any other melee-related site like sc2melee.net or teamliquid.net. I am the author of GSL Atlas and Sunfire, both being top 10 best rated maps of all time. While I would not like to contribute directly by signing up as a level designer (I spent 100+ hours working on Atlas alone), I would be more than happy to allow usage of any of my maps, and I know that every other mapmaker feels the same way. Just find a great map fitting your needs, and let them know you'd like to use it. I am sure they will agree to that.

I do not have as much experience with game development as I'd like to either, but a game like this should be doable. I do however intend to finish the project in Stacraft II first.

Here's an uncut video showing today's progress. I polished game algorithms and started working on the user interface (end screen in particular - skip to 1:30). SoundFX are still to be done.

I hope to have a public version available this weekend.

That could certainly be an option if this happens to get support.

    Hello,

I would like to introduce you to a game concept that I have not seen previously. Today I got an idea for a game, which I demonstrate in a short proof-of-concept video. Note that the gameplay is nowhere near where I would like it to be, I just want to hear your thoughts on what's currently in place.

    Everything is controlled by mouse.
Color changes with left click, shape with right click. Supports 4 players.

Things are getting quite hectic as the game goes on.

Let me know what you think!

    Star Fighters: Update

    Patch 1.0.0 is LIVE

I am happy to announce that Star Fighters has now officially been released on the Arcade (Americas & Europe). This is however not the end of it - major updates are to be released in the future, including the frequently suggested Arcade (PvE) mode. It is important to note that all player progress carries over with the release, so you'll keep your level. If you have any sugeestions, feel free to leave your feedback here or in a private message.
