There's no point in rushing a patch that is supposed to boost the custom map scenario when this same patch breaks everything and leaves custom maps unplayable.
Uh no again. You are in the minority. My map works just fine.
I figure it's a good time for me to move on; nice as the game and its editing tools are, the box is just too small for what I'd want to put in it, so to speak. We're gonna need a bigger gun box.
Does anyone here have experience with making sprites from scratch? I'm looking for an estimate on cost (money/time) per creep and per tower. See below for more detail.
Thank you for replying. I should point out that this would be for an indie game not SC2. So we will be creating these from scratch.
The right and left images are mirrors of each other. So we'd need only three images per animation state. If we go with three animation states per creep then we'd need nine images for movement and nine images for death.
But is three animation states per creep enough to make it look good?
Towers would only require one image per animation state since there is no direction. Is one animation state enough for a tower to attack?
Hey guys I'm hoping to get a cost/time estimate from someone who has experience with sprites. We will be having two types of sprites. Creeps that move up, down, and left/right with walk and death animations. Towers that don't move and have attack animation. Level of quality would be slightly higher than WarCraft 2. See picture below;
I can't really say whether it's "good" or "bad" because I feel like I'd simply need to take a week off to figure out how to play the map even semi effectively.
If you played it in wc3. It will become even more boring SUPER FAST. It didnt really bring anything new that it should have when it came to sc2, kind of a shame.
It sounds like you are referring to ETD. If so, then you probably haven't played in ages. I'd say Wars, Mazing, Heroes, and Teams are quite new and different features. If you meant maps in general, please ignore.
No offense to Kara, I really liked your wc3 version of ele TD much better; the older edits moreso than the new. Ele TD speaks for itself with its staying power though.
I'd appreciate it if you could PM me with why you liked the older edits more than the newer edits. The more detail the better and don't be afraid to offend.
I've played this game many times and I'd have to agree with yopeasants that it is in it's far superior to most maps made thus far, and I have yet to find a tower defense map that even stands a chance in comparison.
I'm not hating on the game; it's a good TD. But did you try the TD he gave a shout out to in the end credits?

It seems everyone and their dog is a mod. I've gotten used to seeing the orange user names.

Agreed. It's rather amusing actually.

YES. I have the same problem. Please post here; http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/5626188769

Um no. Most of the reports have nothing to do with the editor.

Thank you! That information is definitely helpful.

But what is a good balance? How hard is it to make sprites of the level seen in the picture?

Funny, I feel the same way. Good luck to you!

Why would anyone do that?

Then it's bad.

I challenge anyone to secure a better endorsement!
