Dammit, I dont have enough slots to upload my maps as limited to 6 players.
(the only reason that I see to limit it to max 6 players that mouse detection lags with more than 6 players, almost all 6+ player maps can be played with 6 players)

yeah, since our discussion was going nowhere, it was better to kill it.

Since blizzard added extension mods, I dont think it would be hard for them to make something like that for arcade.

Collective wisdom must be always right in bnet. We should all just stop playing maps outside of the top 2 page as eventually deep, fun, replayable games rise up the arcade.

Why do people watch the same movie hundreds of time?

But since I am not fun of answering questions with questions:
Fun is relative. Squadron TD is not fun for me, specially since I experienced Mines and Magic which is far better.
Its not replayable, because you do all the same stuff in each game (at least most players) once you learned the best build. People replay it, cause you get the lobby filled up fast and they see its the most popular map so it must be the best too.
And they invested time into learning the game (aka a build) (until that point the game is deep to some degree), now they can play it over and over and enjoy it how it succeed.... If they would play another game they might would have to start learning again:)

Btw Squadron TD has hardly have any new players as I know, because the skill gap... It got most players when it come out and got popular and people were figuring it out.

    Grats for not direct answering.

Seems like you dont want to go into pointing on thing, so I will do it.:
Take the most popular map, Squadron Tower Defense. Once you learn the timings, tell me what is replayable, deep and fun in it? Even without knowing timings for builders its not really deep.
Mines and Magic did a good take on it and made it deep and replayable as you can no longer do all the same builds at each game in it...

Not to mention the 2nd most popular map, Lottery defense. Show me where is that deep?

@Hookah604: Go Unless you're implying that it's not possible to have a map that's easy to learn, fun to play, replayable and deep at the same time?

    Show me one.
(edit: you get extra points if its not a remake)

edit2: btw I just wanted to point out that people usually dont make maps with the only aim to make it popular. People make games that they like and they want to play their games with others without waiting hours to get the lobby filled up.

So I guess we should all take the bnet as it is and make very very simple remakes. (and you should all add achievements and unlockable things by progression)

I dont think the people who make maps enjoying doing that...

Btw, almost everyone could have hosted games on w3, it just needed some figuring out, which kinda sorted out retards from hosting to some degree. (and with bots everybody could hosted)

I played ton of W3 and all of the problems you mentioned come like 5 years after TFT. Lagging players is still problem even in sc2, though there is no real host...
(also try hosting custom game (not arcade) with extension and then you will see the lag, there are pages that doesnt even load sometimes for me (like recently played maps.))

    -

The problem with sc2 lobby system that it will never support any map played by masses and by "pros". Naming lobbies and bots separated noobs from pros, I think if that environment wouldnt have been present, then dota would have never been so popular. (most popular arcade maps has far less skill gaps than dota)
Also, before bots got popular, you could have hosted any map and people filled up the lobby pretty fast. (after bots got popular you could have done the same if you used a bot...). (I have to say, I am not sure exactly why more people tried out "new" maps in W3. Probably many small things add up to be so...)

The interface, the additional tons of information you can put into game info is all nice, but at the end probably less than 10% people read it before they play your map.

    3) I also think bnet 2.0 is far, far superior to the WC3 or SC1 interface.

Interface might be superior (even though it horribly lags and bugs), but that doesnt mean its a better system.

If I'm not mistaken, the hate towards Blizzard can be summarized as being due to the following: Complicated editor (data specifically, and their unwillingness to simplify it). Lack of support towards mappers (popularity system for like the first 20 months, the interest that they've shown recently was basically non-existent before now).

I don't really see the open games being the standard view as a major problem. Spotlight being the default seems more professional and if they were to make open games the default, I have a hard time seeing it making a noticeable difference. But it would show that they're open to feedback, which is a good thing I guess.

I think the editor is great. (far better than w3 or sc1) I dont really care about blizzard's support.

The only major problem I see is bnet....
