lol, no u got that wrong, it wasnt meant that way...
the :P indicated it was meant funny...
now i dont want to make jokes about your disease, i just wanted to throw in something to maybe make you feel a little comfortable ( a little cheering up) whatever, i'm sry i posted andi t sounded wrong to you...
just forget it then please!
this is just a little compilation of a few of those models, basically those are put together to make up a house like in the other screenie
trust me, the system works, i already implemented it into wc3 and it worked perfectly, so it will in sc2, too!
i have already concepted my ass off and have 7 pages of sketches already...
only thing is that i dont yet know how to give it away to the people!
not many used my models in actual maps, everyone said the idea was great, but i think people where just too lazy to make maps with it because its time consuming to search for the appropriate model in the list, place it, rotate it and then change the height...
so i'm trying to come up with some new placement system, just any possibility would be nice, that enables people to more intuitivly "draw" those models more easily...
and when you said you hacked the we i thought i might ask what u did precisely, maybe you got some valuable info for me...
but seems that my idea is way off somehow.
meh, thx for replying anyways!
you sir, at least have a disease to hide behind :P
me has nothing, if people tell me i'm rude over and over again when i dont want to sound like it i must search the error in myself, you can just go
"Hey, dont piss me off or i'll get that Reaper from my dream to visit you!"
for that nobody replies to that post, it sounds like a child's fever dreams...
its not funny, not even accidently funny, but only plain ridiculous...
(yeah, thats probably one of those parts people will yell at me again :P)
just as i said, that facing of a certain part of the mesh can probably not be done at this point, because Bllizard didnt release it's 3DSMax / Maya Plugins yet!
I already pointed you almost with the nose on how to do that with 3DSMax 5 and the ArtTools for wc3, but that wouldnt help much here...
Regarding modeling overall I would say that the internet is full of tutorials!
Its all depending on which program you want to use though!
I think Max is the best (at least for me) but you might be better with another program (as max isnt free, too)
You need to then google the products name + " tutorial" and maybe a "beginner" in there, too...
Then you have the basics, but you need to learn to work with that, too, which is a long process...
i dont want to dis courage you, but if u want to model something that looks decent you have to practicve really hard and most of the times (at least i did) you need to model one and the same mesh two or three times to get it right in the beginning...
i'M sry, never mean to be rude, somehow everyone thinks i am though >.<
this loks muhc nicer now as i can see more parts!
i'd suggest to cut a little off of the marine and zerg in the upper bar...
so that it does not overlap with the outline of the "panel"
its probably something to do with the bones...
so its probably not supported until now (nintoxicated's script is cool, but not the same polugin Blizz used ;P )
in wc3 you achieved something like that with naming the bone "turret_xyz", there is no documentation on how to achieve it in sc2 though yet (as far as i know, prove me wrong if u can)
as if it was so uberpwnage that everyone would GOGOGO STEAL IT!
you could have at least made it transparent, so its noticable but not covers almost the whole image!
also, whats the sense behind that? whats the map it should resemble?
i'm sry, you probably tried hard and i dont want to discourage you, but it looks like cnp and a few layer stylez...
nothing too fancy...
yay* finally someone who's fencing, too (or at least who fenceD, too) did it from 6 to 12 years or something, cant remember really much, then swimming, then judo...
then school got harder and i moved, now i'm a lazy bastard XD
trying to get out at least an hour a day though, i have some nature right in front of my door...
wouldnt think it's considered a sport taking a walk, but at least i try
(though i'm lucky enough to not get fat...)
when wc3c is back online i can link you to more pics, mostly comic style though!
it would be difficult to do this with triggers and it wouldnt be handy, because the terrainer wouldnt have a visual represantotion in the ge itself...
so i was thinking if i could maybe in any means could achieve some special "paint function" where one could lay down a floor plan or anything!
i dont have settled on any solution, probably making a maxscript and then exporting the buildings as one into ge will be more comfortable!
thx for the answer though!
1. dont get caught by wc3 modders, i got my head ripped off a few times when i said the almost exact same thing (once on hive, once on inwarcraft, a german modding site)^^
2. i'd be really interested if you could tell me what exactly you can do in terms of hacking the editor... (i'm more of a modeler than a programmer, so just basics would be okay) i'm thinking of various ways of how i could achieve a specific placement behaviour and would like to know whether its very hard to accomplish or not!
(this is no request, if you would like to help me, i'd be glad, but i'm just wondering if i could poke you if i would start hacking the ge with questions i have :P)
(Basically I am working on a big list of models, wich placed together intelligently, build up a total house in the end, but I would like to enhance the placement so its easier for the end user to put the stuff together... I already thought about making a maxscript for that purpose, too, but in the editor it would be much more nice...)
As the days of handpainting wc3 textures are gone I worked my way through a few texture sites that are all royalty free and most of the times dont even need a registration.
Some of them are more useful for finding concepts, others for textures, the quality changes heavily throughout the list...
(I didnt recheck them once again before posting here, as this was intended for starcraftmapping.de, there might be some german sites amongst these... please forgive me!)
Okay, we caught eachother on the wrong foot then...
Uhm, might I ask where u got the free version from (if its not ripped, if it is, just keep silence :P)
Because i only can find the "download demo" option on the homeapge and the "buy license" which combined would mean i have to pay for it Oo
i never flamed you...
just stated whats wrong, probably it was just misread, whatever...
so i do understand that right? u r using a 32bit version on a 64 bit system just for the plugs?
thats hard, man...
does it spit out error codes or anything?

wrong! *hah* :P you want "Debut" which works just as fine, but is for free and doesnt have this "fraps" watermarking at the top of the screen!
you need to record your screen in a higher resolution, then its hd...

well, the formatting is horrible... why doesnt it just brake the line where i hit enter?
0
oh yeah fuck, i just recognized that the NVIdia stuff is for 32 Bit only, too... lol, whats the sense in buying a 64 Bit pc then?
also, try the zbrush trick if u are comfortable with the program, its really the most precise... (but also the longest taking >.<)
