    posted a message on Remove ground texture from building?

    I have a map where I am scaling down a Terran Barracks to a 1x1 tile. My problem is that even though the building is scaled down to the right size, there remains a ground texture where the legs of the building would be sitting, they look like big blast marks from the jets. Does anyone know how to access or remove this texture?

    Not sure if this answers your question, but the game might be reading the unit's cost from 2 different sources and stacking them. I had a similar issue with my map. In the data editor my unit has a cost set for it, I also have a shop that sells this unit. The shop uses a "Train" ability which allows me to set the cost of what units it trains. Since the game was patched, these two values are now stacked. Your situation sounds slightly different. Im guessing the buttons you used are linked to abilities that upgrade your units. Check those abilities to see if they have any cost associated.

    I'm having the same problem, I posted about it yesterday but havent gotten any responses. );

    EDIT: My only guess is that Blizzard wants you to have an ending to your map (i.e. a score screen showing results at the end of the game) because most maps just boot you to the menu when you press the Score Screen button when they are over. Not sure how to implement it though.

    I'm sure im not the first person to post this, but if you download the new patch while battle.net is still down you won't be able to use the Galaxy Editor, it asks for authentication from battle.net. Booo

    Edit: Awesome, that worked. That is going to save me a lot of trouble, now I want to add another feature to it, thought you might be able to help. I'd like it to spawn a different amount of enemies based on the number of players, would I be able to do that with validators? If so, would I need to make multiple validators?

    So I got the duration effect to work, but Im having trouble with the validator. I don't know exactly how to make one that detects my hero unit. Any ideas?

    Thanks for the idea, I was trying my best to avoid triggers, and I hear that periodic timer triggers cause a lot of lag, that was one of my other reasons for trying to use the data editor only. I didn't know about pick unit before though and Im sure I'll use it in the future.

    Well, my first question would be, is the triggering unit an SCV? It all depends on how you reference the unit. What event triggers the unit? Do you want auto-cast on only sometimes or all the time? I feel I can better help you if you give me a little more info.

    posted a message on Want to make a structure that spawns units with autocast. -Need Help

    So I'm making an rpg map, and I'm trying to make a structure (lets say a spawning pool) auto-cast an ability to create a zergling when the Hero is near it, this way I can avoid writing numerous triggers for spawning. I'm a novice when it comes to the data editor, but I was looking through some of the categories trying to imagine how to make this effect occur. I tried making an ability with auto-cast, and made it and instant-effect ability. The effect of course would be to create a zergling. Unfortunately this did not work, and cant seem to figure what I'm missing. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I, could help me with this one. Does the unit need to have a specific AI? Also I noticed there are some effects that do an area search, as well as a whole other Data category called Finders. Is anyone familiar with any of this stuff that might be able to tell me if I'm on the right track? Thanks for reading, happy mapping. :)

    Yeah, i've tried a number of these styles to achieve the effect im looking for. The problem is that many of them have their own pre-made formats. I need to be able to access the alignment and font size with these tags, but I don't know the proper syntax.
