That looks so much nicer, actually looking like it could be a really fun map now. You should change the loading screen though, make it a higher resolution and stretch it, instead of center.
I have not played or heard of that game. Commando is just a working title, and it is extremely unlikely I will use it, it doesn't even have that much relevance to the game (You aren't actually a commando)
But in anycase I have no intention of visible sight cones, though I think it could be done. I think having to eyeball it is better.
Oh well thats easy, you just have to trigger the movement controls (And of course ability hotkeys) for each player separately.
Or you could also use arrays (Each button and hero would have to be stored in an Array[2]). But for the purposes of this discussion lets keep it simpler and assume you are triggering them separately. Just make one player use WASD and the other Arrow Keys. Just like any other game. Or better yet you could theoretically allow the players to set the controls.
Well this is exactly why I posted it, to help flesh out the ideas. :)
I haven't played Metal Gear, though I have played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

Yes, I do plan to have sight cones, as well as a visibility indicator. Which will probably be set up with regions, over lights.
As for weapons, I am unsure what tone I want to set for combat. Overall the gameplay will likely be stealth based, but once you have been discovered, it may become a bit more of a firefight. You will certainly have a sniper. However it's usefulness will be somewhat limited, since the game takes place primarily in the city streets and interior. I do have plans for an objective where you will up a tower and have to snipe.
Yes you will be able to find new equipment, and perhaps achievements. Leveling up seems unlikely, but is possible.
__
The entirety of the game will take place in the city, for the most part I don't really want to say what will happen story-wise, but suffice it to say that the Chinese are the reason you are there, but not necessarily the focus of the story.
For the most part it will be mission-based as opposed to a free world, but you will be allowed to roam the city, and there will be things to find, and learn. Computers to interface, and possibly people to talk to. I am unsure if there will be many other people, as the city is mostly abandoned.
I wouldn't say that the Russians are really the good guys, the World Union are more of the good guys, you just don't play as them in this game (Though I have contemplated making other maps in the same world). The are just neutral, when you think of it, they kind of just ran away from the problem closing in on themselves, and becoming isolationist (They did not send any forces or support to Northern India). And certainly they "encouraged" countries to join them, although I did not say that above. The Russians are more of a neutral persona faction.
Thanks :) , although my other map idea has a lot more RPG elements, if that's what you like.
The sections in the screenshot are Upgrades (Grey), Offensive Skills (Red), Defensive Skills (Green), and Support Skills (Blue)
As for making it a team intensive game;
I think probably the best way to accomplish this is through the abilities. Of course there are the support abilities (Healing, Buffing, etc.) perhaps some abilities will require an action from an ally. Or make it so that certain builds will be very reliant on the support of allies, such as abilities that drain your health (Thus requiring healing), or upgrades/skills that make you vulnerable (Requiring aid from a tank).
Additionally, there may be interactable objects in arenas or regions that require multiple people to use. I have also been contemplating adding vehicles, which could require multiple operators; pilot and gunner. Possibly maybe even an SCV ability for constructing one.
In any case, this is mostly just kicking the ball around. If you have any ideas on how I might better accomplish that, I would love to hear it.
Currently I am trying to decide what sort of project I want to work on. And so I thought I would pitch up some ideas and a bit of progress on two maps and see what people thought of them.
I would appreciate it if people read it and give me a bit of feedback, particularly whether they would like to see a map like this. :) ___ Contents

Overview
This map is largely based on concepts from a previous Wc3 map idea of mine. It is something of an RPG, but perhaps closer to an adventure.
You play as Russian Federation Operative. You have been order to investigate Imperial activity in the former United States. However your dropship is shot down as you enter the city. You are left with two tasks; discover the Chinese Empire's interest in the city, and restablish contact with your superiors.
Back Story World Map
The story is set in the near future.
Following the annexation of North Korea by China, the world has imploded in hostility and militarization. The nations have polarized into 3 major factions; The Chinese Empire, The Russian Federation, and The World Union.
More Detailed
After many years of isolation, North Korea had all but collapsed under the widespread poverty throughout the nation. Thus is was annexed by the People's Republic or China. This led to a global outcry, however any action to be taken by the UN security council was vetoed by China.
Global tensions began to rise especially between the United States and China, and special tariffs began to fall into place, as a means of economic sanctions.
However these tensions snapped when China invaded the Republic of India. China was ejected from it's permanent security council seat, and military action was approved to suppress the invasion force. United Nations Peacekeeping forces were deployed to Northern India. The conflict soon grew into a stalemate, as the forces fought back and forth through the Himalayas and Eastern India.
Fearing for their own national security, and the escalation of the conflict, many countries began to seek political union with the neutral, Russian Federation.
The United States, hoping for a quicker conclusion to the war, as had been the case at the end of World War II, launched 4 nuclear missile against China. However unlike World War II, China responded in kind. The nuclear arsenal unleashed against the United States was devastating, rendering much of it uninhabitable, and essentially destroying all leadership.
The country collapsed in on itself, and although pockets of US Nationalists still exist around the world, largely consisting of overseas forces, they were unable to act with any cohesion. This sparked a rush, many more countries sought political union within the Russian Federation. In response, lesser members of the UN began pushing for similar union.
Soon enough the remaining members of the United Nations joined in political union, becoming the World Union. The World Union is run democratically, with representatives being sent from each former nation, proportional to their population. The former nations are fairly self governing however, relations and all military aspects are run by the World Government.
Gameplay
The game, is a Third Person Shooter, with large elements of stealth, and lesser combat focus. A large focus would likely be storyline.
Camera: Third Person/Mouse Look Movement: WASD Fire Weapon: Left Mouse Button Examine Object: Right Mouse Button Night Vision: Middle Mouse Button

Units doen't even use Nydus Canals smartly, as far as I am aware, so it seems very unlikely :(
Though it is probably possible to make some sort of AI for it.

Go to the data editor and go to Texture Sets/Tile Sets, cant remember which.
Find the tileset you are using and you can edit the fog there, you can also change the fog height among other things.

Now I really wish I was more into modelling :(.
Hope these turn out better than all those anime/game models that people made for Warcraft 3 though, they were just... terrible.

I doubt it is that simple.

He said that he used digg, because the forums don't have the capability for a 42 option poll...

I don't think you are understanding the question. It would be essentially the same player, since they are on the same screen (computer)
Do you basically want splitscreen, or just two people playing on the same screen, viewing the same thing.
The second is easy, but the first.... dunno.

I would really appreciate some feedback though.

Anything anywhere in the Koprulu Sector basically.
It was called the Guild Wars. Kel-morian Combine vs Terran Dominion.
Yeah, look at where s3riius linked, that wiki is good and where I get my info.
