posted a message on Why the f*ck do we let them do this?

The old good Blizzard is dead, and you'd better accept it.

Activision merge could have something to do, but isn't responsible for everything. Blizzard started to die during the development of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and got worse when started to abuse. The best example:

Placing limitations on BlizzStores: for example, the virtual pets. It's 10€ in EU, and 10$ in US. Everyone bought it at US to save money. Blizzard closed EU access to avoid that. That's, imo, one of their dirtiest moves to date, a greedy bastard move to milk the users. And it's not just the pet, it's all the products. I live in Spain, and people who wanted to buy stuff always bought it at US, because, even with the mailing price, it was cheaper than to buy it at EU. Not only they milk us shamelessly, they force us to buy in the region they milk us better, and no, there's no logic reason to limit the store to regions. It's just GREED.

Same for StarCraft II. You play where you buy. Are you kidding me? you should be able to choose where to play, no matter where you buy the goddamn game. All the people I know that preordered it from US had to cancel it, and those who didn't are shitting on Blizzard and playing at US servers.

And then we have the deals with Facebook. No, it isn't just the integration. Our "beloved" Blizzard bought rights over "personal data seller engines", and what's that thing for? to sell personal data, used currently by Facebook to customize the adds sent to you and stuff like that. Don't believe me? they released a press letter, check their webpage.

Want more? if any of you follow the esports scene just a bit, you'll know how Blizzard simply raped 10 years of StarCraft: Brood War esports in Korea. From a constructive and nice environment, they built a corporative scheme whose only purpose is to milk money. Kespa were a bunch of suckers that controlled everything, had stupid rules and whatnot, but they weren't as lame as Blizzard is being right now.

Then we have the trilogy thing. If you analyze it, it's a great idea. It's pretty good. Only that the concept didn't end being that good and polished, and, instead of a trilogy, feels like a lone book cut off in 3 parts.

Not to speak of cutting content in purpose. Yeah, zerg don't need the Lurker! My ass, ten bucks he's coming for HotS as a new brand unit. Same for chat rooms. Oh, yeah, we have this awesome idea, we will implement it and yeah... fuck you, programming a chat is a single day work, you just don't want to release it to the public, or you are simply too busy making it a spy network to control what we say.

And of course, the part all of us love more: our maps are hosted by Blizzard, and we don't own them at all. They can even get censored because they want. Not to mention the AWFUL custom game list system. I don't think I need to elaborate on any of that in this particular community.

I could continue on and on... Our Blizzard from Warcraft III is dead, and you all should deal with it asap.

Hey, M1n1sha, good to see you around here :).

It shouldn't be hard to put the Doom sprites in, too, as the enemies. Just play with them and their 2d nature.

Whatever, if you need help, don't hesitate to ask me ;) :P.

PS: ask someone to move this to "9886-doom-remake-project/", it's "9886-doo-m-remake-project/" right now xDDD.

It doesn't let me remove Campaign/LibertyStory with campaign stuff being used.

Campaign/Liberty, in the other said, can be removed without any problem and without having to wait more than 6 seconds.

    @s3rius: Go

Yeah, I saw something on another thread. Hope they are done soon, I'm tired of people asking about this, when I'm not even sure :S.

I read in one of those posts that Multi and Campaign together corrupted the data. My problem, actually, having the 4 dependencies on, is that every time I open the map, campaign units disappear, but the editor says they're still there. I have to go to Dependencies, clear Bnet data and then the players get darkgreen/brown team colors, so I've to go to player properties and just accept to refresh the colors. Weird stuff.

So, I only need LibertyStory? Send to hell all the other ones? Have them sorted in a proper order?

    Damn :(.

posted a message on Creating a Helms Deep map (LoTR)

Omg, believe or not, I started a Helm's Deep-like a week ago or so, too xDDD.

I created the page for it yesterday, but I haven't upload anything yet: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/partial-darkness/

I decided to make it because I wanted to test if I could simulate more than 3 cliff levels, and so far, I've succeeded. Now I only need to balance the attacking/defending troops and polish the terrain.

My version has nothing to do with LotR, and is just inspired by Helm's Deep's layout. If you aren't satisfied with the cliffs and you like my way of doing it (when I release the map and you see it, I hope soon) feel free to ask, it's easy to do and the result is pretty nice :).

    posted a message on Dependencies

I've seen answers to this around the forum, but I would like to have a clear response (By the way, we could make a "common questions" topic and put info like this in, so people doesn't ask more than once).

Right now, the game has 4 "mods" you can depend of:

    • Mods/Liberty.SC2Mod
    • Mods/LibertyMulti.SC2Mod
    • Campaigns/Liberty.SC2Campaign
    • Campaigns/LibertyStory.SC2Campaign

My question is: for a custom map where I want to use campaign models, which ones should I choose? It seems some of those make the editor go weird if together, so I'd like to know which ones are necessary and which not, and what are each of them exactly for, if someone knows.

    Thanks from advance ;) :P.

(I believe LibertyStory has dependencies inside from Liberty mod and Liberty campaign, but I'm not sure)

Is this.. like.. a topic where every mod posts some senseless comment?

If so I have fulfilled my duty.

    Why so s3rious? :P

Didn't saw this around, so here it goes:

When you lurk through the campaign maps, there's 2 that make no sense. At all. They're called:

    • TSimulator.SC2Map
    • TStory01.SC2Map

I couldn't open TStory01, although I suspect it's the main campaign setting, the Hyperion and all that stuff, you know. It's a pretty big file, opened it an hour ago and it was still loading when I started to write this, so closed it.

As for TSimulator, it doesn't have terrain, but it has triggers. Weird triggers. First, I thought it was related to challenges, but after reading through the script lines, it seems it's something else :S. Seems like a never-seen-before custom map, imo. You seem to have lives, and have to hold against waves of enemies and rushes. When you win, something like "you're great at StarCraft" pops up.

Any ideas? If you want to see any of those 2 maps, just search them between the campaign map files.

The CE stuff more be available for everyone, else they wouldn't be able to see it working on CE people.

Fatty is the old Infester model. The Lurker and Fatty don't appear anywhere in-game (Lurker egg is used in the secret mission, but as the egg for another creature). It's funny, because the Lurker has a working tech tree made at the game basics. He wasn't included in purpose, then.

Also, The Swarm Guardian is used at Lost Vikings game.

I'm updating the list with 4 types of models:

    • Hidden unused models
    • Rare campaign models
    • Missing models
    • Hinted models

As always, if you know about any missing stuff, post it here and I'll update the thread.

posted a message on Secret models inside the files

I swear I've searched across the forum like 10 times, and I haven't seen anything about this, which shocks me pretty much.

I was searching the models for the dark protoss, cause I wanted to create units directly with that model, instead of using replace or upgrade triggers to change the normal ones... and I found these "secret" unused models. All are inside the terran folder:

    • BattlecruiserHurricane.m3: dunno if it's used in Lost Viking, but it's just a giant battlecruiser with a completely new model.
    • GhostEcho.m3: some sorts of dark-haired female ghost.
    • LaserDrillTank.m3: the only one I've seen around the forum, and wasn't payed too much attention. It's just a huge tank with a huge laser. And no, it's not the ARES.
    • NewFolsomTurret.m3: I don't remember the mission well, but I don't recall any turret at all, and they're pretty cool. Guess I nuked em without noticing or, perhaps, they are unused.
    • SuperCraneAdvanced: Some sorts of giant cyborg. Weird stuff.

Those all are for now. Will give it another check tomorrow, and see if I find more stuff. There are some weird things inside the characters folder, the ones used in the campaign menus, but I think they were already posted. Te best of them is a Vermillion robot with a hole in his head, but there's some weird stuff around, too.

Here's the list, still in building process:

    Complete list

    Hidden unused models

Models that can only be found by lurking through the files:

    • BattlecruiserHurricane.m3
    • GhostEcho.m3
    • LaserDrillTank.m3
    • NewFolsomTurret.m3
    • SuperCraneAdvanced.m3

    Rare campaign models

Models that can be found at the units tab, no matter they appear at the campaign or not:

    • Aberration.m3
    • Brutalisk.m3
    • DarkPylon.m3 (dark templar pylon, used before Chrono Boost)
    • Fatty.m3 (old model for Infestor)
    • Lurker.m3
    • LurkerDen.m3
    • MunitionsDepot.m3 (required to build old Thor)
    • Nomad.m3 (old model for Raven)
    • Obelisk.m3
    • Scourge.m3
    • Scout.m3
    • SwarmGuardian.m3 (old model for Brood Lord)

    Missing models

Models we saw across the development process, that weren't included in the final product:

    • Predator (spaceship, not to be confused with cybercat)
    • Radar Tower
    • Reaver (old SC1 unit)
    • Shrieker
    • Soul Hunter
    • Star Base
    • Stasis Orb
    • Tempest & Shurikens (dark templar version for Carrier and Interceptors)
    • Void Ray (old version with normal protoss skin)

    Hinted models

Models we have references about them, but never saw their models:

    • Escort
    • Infested Protoss

If you find or know about any other secret models, icons or anything else that fits the list, feel free to post them, so we complete the list.
