posted a message on Starcraft II Modding

Wow, I had completely forgot about this thread.

    Olympic necro btw.

But you kinda got the point of mods. A one huge modification that completely affects the game, in this case, yes, hots can be taken as a mod, a very huge mod that adds to Starcraft 2. Completely modifies its engine, graphics, the way you play melee (even if it's just new units), etc etc. In SC1 mods were that. Big MPQs that compltely modified the game. And even the way you played melee, introducing new strategical concepts on how you played a single game of starcraft. And the best part of it is that you did not require any maps at all. You'd just load the mod and the changes would apply and affect every single map.

Right now, even if there is the illusion of a mod (which is just a stripped down map, really) there's no way to completely modify starcraft. You're limited to loading a map. Maps use mod files as a complement and the main point of this topic was that it should not be that way. You should not at all require any map to play a mod. You should just be able to grab any melee map and you'd be on the mod.

That's as far as I remember from ...2011???

If anyone wishes to further discuss this, go ahead, otherwise i see no reason to keep this topic alive, do not reply, just let it die, again.

That was a nice concept. Imagine it be implemented in melee as a terran building, craaaaaaaaaaaaaazy.

Who's up to do the data? I could make the modeling in the case that the model's not in the editor.

"Idiot Feminazi" is not a valid reason to close a discussion topic YOU started, Taintedwisp. Sounds absurdly like if you're name calling someone. He did raise some fair points but I guess you do not wish the discussion to further continue so I'll keep the topic locked.

I'll change the reason to a more suitable one, though.

Both of you need to calm down.

And please, try actually reading your own post and check for spelling and grammar mistakes before posting. It was only so difficult to read that I barely caught up on all the flaming going on.

I actually think that a 4th race wouldn't be so out of the question. In fact, the reason why I believe they haven't implemented one is because of the "outrage" that the community would give. (Rightfully or wrongly)

Anyways, I don't think it would be so much of an issue to bring into the story line. Who says that there are only 3 races in the universe? What about critters? I know that sounds stupid, but I'm being serious. The first thing that comes to my mind is Avatar... I'm not talking about tribal people, I'm talking about something based off of nature? The idea might sound stupid, but what about a race of "plant people"?

To fit into the storyline, the zerg (or terran) could invade a planet, only to find a "primitive" race living there. They are bound to their planet by the laws of plants, it could go on and on.

I'm just saying, I came up with an idea (granted, not a very good one, but still an idea) in less than 30 seconds. With the entire Blizzard team, I'm sure they could come up with something that would make sense, and would add A LOT to the game.

That's not stupid, that's an awesome idea.

    Okay, just to be clear:

IN THIS TOPIC WE SHALL DISCUSS ABOUT HOTS, WHY TO PURCHASE?, WHY NOT?. NO ATTACKS TOWARDS ANY OTHER MEMBER OF SC2MAPSTER SHALL BE MADE BEING THEM DIRECT OR IMPLIED. PERIOD. NO FURTHER DISCUSSION ON THIS TOPIC REQUIRED IF IT IS NOT RELATED IN ANY WAY TO STARCRAFT 2.

In case I wasn't clear enough SHUT UP and GET ON TOPIC.

ITT: You see, I got SC and SC: BW for like 10 bucks, both of them, like in 2007 or so, and it was actually on sale. If you put it that way it makes sense that HotS would have this price, but still, it feels just like new data and a couple new graphics :P

I'm not opposed to buying it, I have stated that I already have bought it, nor do I see it as a rip off, but I do feel it's just a high quality campaign that we could have made :P

I think the price is okay, I think about it this way, if I go out one night have a couple of drinks, have dinner, ect, I spend that same ammount in one single night of fun. If i put it this way, hots can give me many nights for the same price :P

It's way less than what people in the us seem to spend in other franchises that really have literally no changes at all in gameplay. Shoot stuff and kill stuff to win. Whereas we get a new campaign with a complete different gameplay, same RTS concepts, as always, but different ways to play that one single RTS concept.

    I lol'd, EW.

Eitherway the single player campaign is merely a bonus to me, I like the multiplayer melee, eventhough I suck at it I find it really fun to play 2s or 3s with a couple of friends.

I never preorder games but this is sort of an exception- I kinda need this one to do my job here ^.^ I should probably get around to buying it :P

You know, I find it really weird, but is there a reason not to pre order games?

You ARE getting it either way, right? Be it after its release or before. Or is it more of a "I'm still undecided" kind of thing?

I just find it really weird why some people say they don't pre order things, it's just likc buying a concert ticket, sure you could probably buy it at the same day of the event but isn't it just nicer to already have the safety of having your ticket now?

Also, cool, I don't get charged taxes :P

Cheers! I got paid on friday so I bought it on sunday, had a little issues with my currency but already have my account being standard hots. yay.

I got GTA IV a while ago, I don't know, I have mixed feelings about it. It was on sale on steam and it costed me like 5 bucks so I didn't spend much but I think it's one of those games that it's just better in a console. I remember enjoying san andreas and both of vice city so much on ps2 but the controls for the PC version of GTA are just impossible for me. I literally modded the hell out of it so I could use a crappy usb controller. And even that way it's still a bitch cause I cannot properly use guns while driving or aim while walking...

Still, I like it and don't know if I should get GTA V, I definitely will not if it's got the same issue as GTA IV for me or maybe in two years time when it's 5 bucks on steam :P

Out of curiosity, Why is the total different than the purchase ammount?

    There this: http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/

I used it for a while but never really liked it, I have no reason as to why but I never did. It's still installed and it works but I just find it really annoying that it added stuff to the OS context menu.

Maybe it works out better foryou than to me.

posted a message on Have a look, there is my N-th model

That looks incredibly awesome, good work.

Camera angle should not matter at all, the real trick is the offset between the two cameras (or the two "sources"). The only rule would be that both cameras have to be at the same focal length and field of view, otherwise you'd end up with some weird perspectives. After all, irl things are shot in 3D and camera angle changes almost always :P

The real deal is to offset the camera the same distance each of your eyes would see the objects afar from each other, this is aprox. 2'' but increases depending on how far the object you're focusing is. But this is calculated via some weird optical logarythms formulaes so I'd just ignore it since it works perfect in this case :P
