Hello. I like Income Wars very much. Yours is different though? Why don't you publish it to BNet2.0 and then anyone can play it. I'd be interested in trying different versions of it. Such as one that involved more strategy instead of unit vs unit counter. Kind of lame concept, but still fun.

    Also welcome to the community.

I'm sorry, I'm trying to understand what your saying but tell me if I'm wrong.

Your saying that you put the unit on the map after you did all the work in the data editor. This should be fine, but you need to make sure you select the correct unit that you've modified. For example if you duplicate a zealot and both of the icons are right next to each-other and you click the original and not duplicated and modified one when you go to test your going to be surprised to see the cool ability you added isn't there! Have you done a test yet yourself to see if it works?

Hope I helped, if your having any more problems please ask.

posted a message on [Absolute Beginner] Tutorial: Making units ultra fast!

Today in this tutorial we will be learning how to make units move at incredibly quick speeds. This method can be used on most units in the data editor, even buildings if your careful how you do it.

OK so lets start by placing a zealot on the map.

Next we're going to open our Trusty Galaxy Editor in which we're going to modify a few simple items.

Lets use the Zealot and make him a total beast. So type Zealot into search bar. I'm not saying you have to use the Zealot, but it's what I'm going to use. This works with a very large variety of units as I said above.

Click Zealot and scroll down until you see "Movement - Speed" and change it to "9".

Now we're ready to test this bad boy.

Now that this tutorial is finished I'd like to stress the importance of saving. This is a must do. I would suggest setting your preferences which can be found by clicking Galaxy Editor>Preferences>Documents

Starcraft 2 is not perfect. Check out Blizzards new forum to find out details about problems. Black screens are annoying. Losing work is death for some.

OK, that's everything and as always PM me or post here if you have any suggestions or comments or need help.

posted a message on [Absolute Beginner] Tutorial: Adding Abilities to Units

In this tutorial today we will be adding an ability (BLINK) to a Colossus. Please ignore the mini colossus as it is not important, he's just cute.

Using my method you will be able to use this on any unit and with most abilities. For example you don't have to use just blink, for example you could put an auto turret as the ability and summon them instead of using blink, or you could even have both or many more!

Step 1: Place a Colossus on the Map. Keep in mind that you can use any unit you wish. You could even use a Command Center which is a building and blink it places which is really cool.

Step 2: Open your Data Editor and find the Colossus or whatever unit you wish to use.

Step 3: Add the Ability Stalker - Blink This time lets do the Stalker - Blink, and then maybe you can try it on your own and pick your own ability out. If your having trouble doing it also just come and post what your trying to do.

Step 4: Add to the Command Card the Blink Icon and set it as an Ability Command, and the rest should happen. Click OK.

Step 5: *Important* Be on the Abilities Tab *Important* Type Blink into the search box and click it. Scroll down to Blink Requirements and double click Requirement +, right click the requirement research and clear/delete it.

Step 6: Scroll up, we are still in the Stalker Abilities, and under Effects click Stalker - Blink (Teleport) and change Target - Placement Range and Target - Range both to 25 which will give your blink ability massive range which would be sweet to have.

OK so that's the tutorial, and it's pretty sweet. I'd be scared to see 10 of these guys coming at me and then end up being like RIGHT THERE a split second later!

Don't be scared to use whatever unit you want weather if be a critter, a building, heros, or just a normal unit like we used above. The Galaxy Editor can basically accomplish anything your thinking so don't be afraid to just click buttons either, because that's how I learn a lot of the time ha.

As always I hope you enjoyed and if you have any suggestions or questions or requests send me a PM or leave a message.

    EDIT:

    @happy04

Thanks for the reply and advice, I will try to tell them how this can be used generically. They defiantly need to realize that this editor is unbelievably flexible.

posted a message on [Absolute Beginner] Tutorial: Modify unit size

Welcome, this will be my 2nd tutorial, and I hope very much that someone can get use of this in one of their maps. Today we are going to modify the size of units. As far as I know this works on all units but correct me if I'm wrong as I'm teaching you as I teach myself and am taught.

    To start go to file>new

The size does not matter The style does not matter It's all your choice

In this tutorial I'm going to modify the size of the Colossus and Baneling.

So right now you should have a map that looks something like this.

Now lets open up the Data Editor and use the search box to type "colossus". Make sure you have "Show Object Explorer" activated so you can see the 3rd box in the bottom left. Scroll down to Models>Colossus

    Step 1+2

Now scroll down until you see "scale maximum" and "scale minimum". We're going to edit both of them. First lets edit the Maximum and change it from .75,.75,.75 to .3,.3,.3 which is a great size! Make the Minimum .3,.3,.3 also.

    Maximum

OK now we want to make the Banelings size different. Change the Maximum and Minimum both .8,.8,.8

    Minimum

Hit test and look at these results. Test them against enemy units also if you like.

    Result Resault Result

This tutorial was brought to you by RedMarine, I hope you enjoyed it. As always if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to send me a PM or even just leave a message here and I'll try to get back to you.

posted a message on [Absolute Beginner] Tutorial: How to place units in other buildings

In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to place units in other buildings such as a zealot in a starport or a thor in a nexus. This can be used to help you create many cool features in your maps.

So to start open up the Starcraft 2 Galaxy Editor and create a slab of terrain which can be any size you want! Also choose "Campaign (Liberty)" in the dependancies tab if you wish to use custom units such as Tassadar.

    Terrain

Next find a nice spot on the map and make a small raised hill.

    Hill

Next lets place a pylon on the hill and say thats the building we're going to construct units from.

    Place Pylon

Now lets take a trip to the Data Editor. This is where we're going to make everything important happens. First you should go to the search box and type the word pylon which will then find the pylon quickly for you. Click pylon and take in all of those big words off to the side. Also make sure you have the "show object explorer" because we'll defiantly need that.

    Data Editer Search

Moving on were going to the "Command Card" and you'll notice that all there is is a cancel icon; lets add out own by selecting a blank tile a click the green +X sign. Using your trusty search box again type Immortal into which will be the unit we're using. Be careful now though because there are 2 icons with an immortal on them. Hover over each to find the one that just says Immortal and not Immortal Hallucination and choose it. If you'd like you can set the Command Type to an "Ability Command".

    Command Card Immortal CC

OK now we need to add an ability. So double click abilities and add the ability "command center - (train command center)" which will allow us to build units out of the pylon.

    Abilities

Next lets look on the bottom left in our "show object explorer" and you'll see the new ability we added "command center - (train command center)". Click it. Now Double click the field "Ability - Info - Button - Default Button" and click the "train - scv" and change the first drop down tab " info - button - default button"

Then Scroll to the very bottom and change the "info-time" to 0 and "info-unit" click the green +X and find the immortal. Now your very far in the tutorial and very successful if you've made it this far.

    Success

Now go back to your command card select the immortal tile: command type: ability command requirements: none ability: command center - train ability command: warp in immortal

    • were all done playing with the pylon*

    CC Abilities

In your search bar type immortal in. Change the cost and supply to both to "0".

Now it's time to test! Woo Testin Time Babe

Alright, this is my first tutorial written here on SC2Mapster.com and I hope to bring you more soon. I am currently only going to be showing you guys [Absolute Beginner] Tutorials, because I am an [Absolute Beginner] and have spent many hours attempting to do this lol so I hope I save someone very many hours.

If you have an suggestions or want to recommend my next tutorial just send me a PM.

posted a message on Placing Units in Command Center

Hello. I have placed an ultralisk and an archon along with the ability mass recall in a command center. All of it works. Now I've made a new command card as an "advanced" command card and have placed the dark templar in command card#2. I click on the Dark Templar and hit: Ability Command;Command Center - Train; (then this is where I the dt should show up but doesn't).

I am trying to get it so I when I click on the advanced tab to get to the dt section (command card 2) that when I click on the dark templar he builds. But for some reason I decided to forget how I did it to the ultralisk, archon, etc. If you could please refresh my mind that would be helpful or if you see something crazy point me in the right direction.

    I will give you screenshots. Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Image 5 Image 6 Image 7 Image 8 Image 9 Image 10
