posted a message on "Play announcer number sound" cut from game?

My map utilized a trigger which automatically played back a series of announcer number sounds based on a variable. So, for 151 the announcer would say "one hundred fifty one" etc.

Now this action has been replaced with "Unknown Function" and I cannot find it anywhere in the editor. Where has it gone? Why was it cut? And most importantly, how do I get the announcer to say the numbers again? Is there a custom-made function for that somewhere?

Yeah. The standard Ghost attire is skimpy enough on Kerrigan and Nova as it is, so you might as well cover your blood elf in the entire uniform.

    Quote from WraithChaser: Go

I can't believe people actually don't know how DoTA started. Icefrog made it as a custom map for WC3 [...]

Had to stop reading there. The irony is mindblowing... :D

By the way, here's another preview of these maps. I sat next to the guy writing it during the SC2 matches!

It should be more informative for DotA players, I guess.

This really takes the cake. Reviving one of the most amazing old games I played AND doing so with the most clever scripting I've seen in SC2 so far? Wow.

You know how to make a splash. Nice work.

posted a message on Zergling Round-Up

    Blizzard forum thread: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1302705522

Figured I might as well release this after months of hibernating! It's now published on European Battle.net.

My own little slice of SC2 mapping heaven, inspired by the idea behind the ol' StarCraft map Zergling Round-Up, but re-made in an entirely different way. Four burly cowboys compete in a zergling catching contest - use your special abilities to stop others from capturing zerglings while trying to round-up your own.

    A rundown of the abilities:

    • Energy Lasso - The standard cowboy tool. Bind zerglings to you by right-clicking them. They will grudgingly follow you to your holding pen, where you can deliver them to score!
    • Disruptor Bait - This nasty mutha releases all zerglings in the target area from their Lasso links. If Banelings are hit, they will instantly detonate and take surrounding zerglings with them, so watch out!
    • Stimpack - Cannot be a proper Terran without these babies. Speeds up your cowboy's movement speed and also affects every zergling currently following him. Great for those narrow escapes!
    • Mass Tag - After a short charge-up time this handy ability applies Energy Lasso to all zerglings in the target area - as long as they are not already affected by it. Zerglings already following the enemy will not be affected. Combine with Disruptor Bait for a quick grab!

    Zergling types:

    • Zergling - the bread'n'butter cattle. Weirdly docile. Grants 1 point per capture.
    • Crackling - Darker, larger, speedier variant of the Zergling. Annoying to catch! Grants 3 points per capture.
    • Baneling - Disgusting! These volatile hulks are worth a whole 8 points per capture, but can be detonated by Disruptor Bait. All zerglings caught in the explosion will perish terribly! Caution is advised.

A game lasts 3 rounds รก 75 score. The winner is decided by rounds won; if there's a tie, it is decided by their total score. Players can decide to keep on playing once the game is over.

I'll get some screenshots and stuff up in a while - I really just wanted this thing to be OUT THERE already. Go nuts.

posted a message on How to make Baneling's auto attack buildings?

Their explode-buildings ability is auto-castable, but the auto-cast is turned off by default. Turn it on and they will attack buildings when attack-moving as well. You don't need to edit anything, except maybe enable auto-casting the ability by default.

There's nothing wrong with complaining about a product you've purchased.

That holds true when the complaints aren't ridiculous or written in a pitifully toxic way. Rabidly running your mouth off about how Blizzard is demonspawn and implying they actively work against the modding community (see the quote @Eiviyn: Go) is deep into clown territory, for instance. So are posts like @Colt556: Go.

But hey, if you being such a rampant fanboy helps you sleep at night, have fun. But in 5 years when SC2's just another dead game, because Blizzard's full of idiots, try not to cry :/

That "look at me, I'm a smug rebellious underdog" phrasing would be more fitting if you weren't actually among the 99% of SC2Mapster regulars that cry foul, demand their money back and tell tales of Blizzard conspirations against their own community at every single step. Being positive about SC2 or Blizzard is the furthest away from "crying" that one could be around here.

You people need to take a chill pill once in a while. Why are you even on a SC2 fan site if you insist on flooding it with your insipid crocodile tears? It's not like Curse can do anything about how much you think Blizzard sucks. You can go ahead and complain your heart out on the Blizz forums, but why here?

Why exactly did you not use the StarCraft 2 fonts for the pictures? The fonts are what throws me off from considering the pictures believable. Everything else seems to be done very well, but I can't judge like this.

    posted a message on Timer[x] expires --> Set boolean[x] = true?

The editor requires me to specify either a specific variable timer or the Last Created Timer in the "[Timer] expires" event. This kind of counters both those strategies!

EDIT: Unless, if I specify multiple Timer expires events, it will wait for only one of them to expire, not all of them...

Actually, the problem is that there is no function such as "Any timer". =(
