Will my old project be valid as a submission, or shall I create something new? After all I did create to project simply for assests, so I guess it would be kinda cheating!
Tons of terrains, some arenas, some melee and some simply for the heck of it!
The videos are not made solely for the purpose of tips and tricks, when it comes to melee mapping, it is more of an introduction, but contains quite a few pointers on what sizes of fx main and expansion, placement of xel'naga watchers, map mirroring and other minor tips and tricks to balancing etc. I was asked to make some videos like this for a couple of weeks ago, but never got around to post them, and from what I can see, this is where they are suppose to be posted.
Not any great ideas behind the map, just trying to make a good working terrain for the cause, and see how many doodads there could be fitted in without destroying the map, gave up half way :D In any case a few screenshots and file:
Edit: 6vs6 map obviously :D rightclick and show picture/open in new tab for full size.
Here is the starting area:
A little closer look on some of the details:
Overview of the map teleportation thingies, since I prolly didn't get it right from the description:
Height 0 is where the surface terrain are. So nomatter what noise/height/cliff tool you use, if you place a doodad anywere, the terrain surface will be height zero.
As for making good hills try taking a look at this video.
Would actually be funny to spice that terrain up, if you are up for it, instead of getting a wall of text, then if you want to, just copy only the terrain without triggers or data or anything, and send it to me in a pm, would love to spice it up / atleast make some good pointers as on how to do the terrain.
Oh you have more pictures/terrains laying around? Any chance I could get a link to those post so I could check them out? :D Couldn't find anything on the last couple of pages :(
I might just do that.
I could use some help actually knowing what people are lacking when it comes to terraining, so if anybody got a suggestions on what they are having a hard time dealing with like: Hard to make / Takes to long.
Then I'll gladly make a video on how to do stuff quick and effective, but not really sure what people lack ^^

Yes I did compare, and I saw you didn't see Clannad, OMG OMG. How come nobody on this forum have seen this anime, tsktsk.
Go watch clannad and clannad afterstory. The first 32 episodes goes a bit slow, but then prepare for the best thing ever created since oxygen.
