Last week we went for beauty. This week, let's flip it around. Show us your best murder—maybe it's in process, maybe it's already happened, or if you're really clever, maybe you can capture it in planning. Whatever your approach, we're looking forward to seeing it!
Man, I spent wayyyyy more time on this stupid effect than I thought it would take. I was going for the classic wall of ocean effect from so many similar properties and it was a nonstop nightmare to get anything even remotely decent. I'm lucky that SCBroodSC2 had the great suggestion of using the Nova Sewer Effect doodad, or I wouldn't have gotten anywhere at all. Sadly, this effect works at the angle and this angle ONLY.
I wouldn't recommend buying a Mac desktop at this time. The Mac Pro hasn't seen a significant update in quite a while, and it's lagging behind similarly priced Windows/Linux machines. And that's ignoring the fact that Blizzard doesn't give a flying fuck about us and thus breaks the editor constantly.
Glorn's advice looks solid if you want to build your own machine. I'd get a larger internal harddrive, but it's not really necessary for a desktop—I just don't like taking up ports.
Ok, so here's the thing: I believe that part of being a decent human being is doing the best we can to prevent or mitigate harm to others. We won't be perfect, of course, but it's important work. That goes for critics and authors—I'm not giving anyone a pass on being an asshole.
If you're looking for a mental shortcut to avoid a lot assholeish behavior as a reviewer (and don't want to read the article I already posted), change every statement you make from (seemingly) objective, "there is too much text," too subjective "there was more text than I was willing to read." You can level up by asking questions about the things you dislike instead of making statements, but just doing the first change will make a world of difference.

Here's my entry for the week. You may need to look closely...

What a way to make an entrance! Love this shot. Great use of lighting and depth of field.

I mean, Blizzard already told us they know about the problem and are working on it. That's significantly more supportive than usual.

If you want to use a variable, you'll need to create one in the editor, then set that variable in a trigger. Then you can create units in that region.
If you want to use a data table value, you'll still need to set it using a trigger, but then you reference it using the data table lookup instead.

You won't be able to extract the map files at all, sadly. They're encrypted.

If Blizzard fixes the Mac editor, I'll be happy to do it for you. Who knows when that might happen, though.

Oh yeah, you're kind of out of luck there. The site's search features leave a lot to be desired. Are you looking for Warcraft 3 models?

I like it! And it's got a great name. I tend to do this work on paper, but this could be much better.

I'm so glad to see people using this reference! SCBroodSC2 is working on an update for Nova, which we'll post when it's ready.

Sounds like you're a Mac user. This is a known issue: https://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/general/general-chat/131263-mac-editor-galaxy-memory-access-crash-from-update/ . Unfortunately, there's nothing for you to do except get a Windows (virtual) machine to work on or just wait it out. Sorry.
