posted a message on Editing terrain properties (height, texture, etc) with triggers

Does anyone know if this is possible? I would like to change terrain height and texture in a clicked point but I can't find any related trigger action.

I have another question too. Is it possible to detect the terrain texture type in a specified point?

    Thanks in advance

Mario party was another game, here we are talking about a sequel map of another blizzard game made with a similar editor. A player hearing that name would expect something made by the same author.
It's not just the name but the meaning it has.

Said that you can do what you want but I still think that's not a correct behaviour. Maybe you should ask TheZizz if he's going to continue his work in Starcraft2, if he's not who cares then :D

I think you can just crack the game to test the Galaxy Editor.
That's for a good cause, or not? ;)

I think you should not use the name Starcraft/Raynor's Party if you are not the original creator of Uther's Party (TheZizz).
Sequels should always be done from the previous authors, there is no copyright about that but I think it's not a good behavior.

posted a message on D&D coming back in 4th version

I think they had a license for previous D&D editions, however I can't find this kind of videogame licensing for D&D 4th edition. I should search a bit more ;)

P.S. You can find Drizz in Baldur's Gate 1, maybe in 2 too but I didn't play it.

    Quote from MarcusTulliusCicero: Go

I went to the link you provided and looked at the license. Seems that making it into a Starcraft 2 map would be a bit out of the scope of the license, as it is not a book or .pdf. Of course, you could always just do it without the license. I never heard of a SC/WC map having issues with licensing and/or copyright.

    3. Licensed Products. The license granted in Section 4 is for use solely in connection with Licensee’s publication, distribution, and sale of roleplaying games and roleplaying game supplements that contain the Licensed Materials and are published in a hardcover or soft-cover printed book format or in a single-download electronic book format (such as .pdf), and accessory products to the foregoing roleplaying games and roleplaying game supplements that are not otherwise listed as excluded in Section 5.5 (“Licensed Products”).

Edit: I almost completely forgot! IANAL!

I think there is a kind of licensing for videogames too. Think to games like Baldur's gate or Neverwinter Nights, I doubt they were freely inspired to D&D rules without paying a license for it ;)

Blizzard uses a special compressed format to store all files but the sc2 client can read both compressed files or uncompressed files in the right folders. Soo i think maps must be in a specific folder to work or they wont be read.

Then we need a way to check if players payed for the map or not!
With this feature a modder can do what he wants with scripts.

I would really like a demo system for featured maps. I mean how can a player know if a map worths his money if he never tried it?
An awesome feature could be a map trial where you can choose une of several ways to let players test the map:
    - Play x times
    - Play until you reach a certain level
    - Play for a limited time

Mmmm I think I will suggest it in the blizz sc2 forum ;)

    @sixen
Mmmm maybe the requirement for a featured map will be soo high that the work for blizzard would be really small

Yeah, consider that mods like counter strike were completely new games worthing 15$ and more. Considering that charged maps should be a minimum % i think blizzard will decide personally the maximum price cap for each map.

The requirement should just be the amount of popularity of the map, as we can see in this screenshoot

I was asking infos for that ;) I think that using the SRD engine to make a new SC2 based content can be done, the hard thing is to understand what D&D content can be used or not.

In any case we still need to know how the chargins system will work, it's too early to say anything.

I don't know if it will be charged, I think I'm going to implement a good free map with the D&D engine and using the same engine to make more adventures for a small fee. Consider that money increases the beauty and time spent on the work ;)
