Now that we have an actual in game timer that can be enabled are there triggers/ways to specifically affect that? Resetting/forcing it to be shown would be the main ones. If not - is there a way to make a regular timer that is created via triggers to count time at the same rate? The timer I've been creating and showing using triggers doesn't count time at the same rate as the in game timer in the bottom left.
hey qxc, big fan. i'm not sure about changing the in-game timer, but if you make a custom timer you can use the "Periodic Event" event in a trigger to update your timer. it has an option for game speed, so it will go the right speed. so if you can just do a periodic event for every 1 game seconds updating the timer by adding a second to it. are you using timer windows? just noticed your title says you are using timer windows (went to this from your twitter lol). i dont think you can set timer windows times manually, so you'd have to make a dialog for it.
How do timer dialogs work? The speed setting is sufficient to get the timer to count at the correct rate but I also need the ability to set the time on the timer. How can I do that?
When you make a new action, in the left hand window find "Timer", it'll list all timer related action. I'm telling it this way cause I cant remember the exact name of the action you need, just read the tooltips of any actions that sound like what you want. It's probably something like "Set Timer Time" or something like that. Not exactly sure if you can get the game time as an integer/real since I've never tried, but I see no reason as to why blizzard wouldn't have put that function in.
Hey qxc. I can set up a quick timer test map for you if you want :).
Edit: Added a quick map I made showing a basic timer using dialogs. I prefer dialogs rather than timers due to their customisability etc.I can add a lot more to it if you wish. Feel free to PM me, skype me or whatever if you need any other help with mapping. :)
Just one thing - in your set timer routine, you set the 10x seconds to itself instead of the parameter (Time(10x seconds) = Time(10x seconds), should be Time(10x seconds) = 10x seconds).

There's no way to manipulate that, just like with other user settings.
That built-in timer counts time in "game time" (which is real time * game speed). Just start your trigger-made timer with the "game speed" time type.

ah, i forgot that timers have the speed setting too. thats much easier than what i suggested.

wOlfLisK, thanks for that - it's very helpful.
