Hey all, hopefully this will be the last time I bother you guys. :P
I tried to clone the requirements for the mothership for my hero units so that you may only have one hero at a time.
If your hero dies, you can respawn it, but you're only allowed to have one active at a time.
More or less exactly like the mothership in any given melee map, where you can only have one mothership at a time.
Basically, it didn't work out and I am looking for a quick and simple explaination on how I can set/make a requirement for my hero so you can only have one of him at a time.
check under validators in the nexus - train ability. validators arnt directly linked to the units they apply to, but i's most likely a validator in the build command. lemme know if this helps, an GL.
i'd check before i posted, but it's late an im about to head to bed, best of luck
Yup, its uhm. The Lair and Hive train 4 heroes, the factory trains the same 4 heroes, and the robotics facility trains the same 4.
Depending on your start location, you're able to build one of the four heroes. Problem is, you can build like 90 of the hero (if you have the money) and you're only supposed to be able to make one at a time.
This is an old post but I came across it in my initial search to create similar functionality. I did not see this under frequently asked questions, but the solution is simple.
First create a new requirement. Modules->Data->Requirements, Duplicate or Add new.
Under Requirement+, switch to express view and enter something like the following:

is this hero being trained from a building? if so just disable the buttons icon or hide the buttons icon via triggers sooo something along these lines
event Unit - Any Unit uses Ability at Generic6 - Complete stage (Ignore shared abilities)
action Unit - Hide the Ability ability for (Triggering unit)
just change it around abit to suit your map

You can also add research requirements etc in this same field by appending:
Once the requirement is created, go to the ability and open Ability:Commands+ and select the requirement you created under the requirements section.
On a side note, a search for "unique unit" in the forum would display the post below which also describes the solution I mentioned. "unique unit" and "mothership" may be good keywords to use if this is later created under the FAQ.

zero this would not work globally.... data -> validators are the correct way to go
