I need feedback on a some terrain I've been working on. It's New Gettysburg from Starcraft 1, re-imagined according to the cinematic from SC2.
The original map was built with the space platform tileset, possibly because Blizz didn't have a "ruined city" tileset ready :P Or they changed their minds between the two games... Either way, It's pretty established now that New Gettysburg wasn't a friggin space platform :P
In case you don't remember what the objectives were: Kerrigan has to *defend* the zerg base against protoss attacks, and ultimately destroy both protoss bases.
I made this map a veeeery long time ago and have been tweaking it now and again, but always felt that it's still isn't there... and honestly I've ran out of ideas for it ;[
Anyway, if you'd like to give feedback: watch the cinematic, check out the picture of the original map and then open my map in the editor (or in-game, gives a better feeling).
Here's a little overview of the map:
lighting/fog - they're supposed to look like in the cinematic, and I think they do, but also make it a bit hard to see stuff (especially in the protoss bases)
rubble - did I go overboard with all the ruined buildings/cars/etc?
top protoss base - supposed to be on top of a ruined shopping center (credit for the idea goes to the SCReborn team :D)
bottom protoss base - In a "hole", surrounded by rubble
zerg base - no idea how to make it more menacing and "zergish', but nobody will be going up there anyway...
___________
I'm interested in *feedback*, that means something like:
I like it! The lighting and environment effects are perfect.
I'd say the amound of rubble is pretty good.
If you want the Zerg base to be more "zergish" you might try moving the buildings so they're more clustered together, with wider spaces between the clusters, rather than being evenly spaced like it is now. Also Zerg bases don't look right until you throw a couple dozen Zerglings and a handful of Overlords in there.
One other thing I'd do is get rid of the grass and green trees, or at least replace them with trees with no leaves. Pretty much everything in the area would be burned up by now. Watching the video, the only thing green I see is the sign at the beginning. ;)
Also it would be unlikely that the neon signs would still have power, but I don't think there are that many non-working sign doodads that would fit, so there's not much you can do with that, other than removing the signs completely (which wouldn't be very realistic).
Other than that, that's a pretty good map you have there.

I don't know if this is just me, but when I attempt to open the file, I am greeted with a page of gibberish and symbols. Maybe the link is broken?

Wow that was silly of me.
