It's not that I'm taking anyones side, it's more because I'm tired of all this %$@$%#^#... In a last few weeks off-topic discussions were more active than mapmaking discussions. I don't want post quality of this forum forum derail to one of b-net, yet when I watched "Active Forum Threads" I mostly saw off topic discussions featuring name calling, insults and other stuff that doesn't belong on mapster. I want this to be a polite and mostly mature community where people who love making maps come together to discuss mapping related things. It's really hard to accept when someone other than Mephs, Dogmai or Bounty attempts to troll (I seem to miss rodrigos personality aswell :D). If you want to troll, keep it in OT or General.
I remember his posts, I was thinking he was making a fool of himself. Do you really think that hating on him will do this community any good? Do you think it will fix anything? Or if you try to force him make a public announcment stating that he was wrong in his belives, I don't think it's working, this time, you're making fool of yourself instead. =(
As for original ideas, I remeber back in SC1 there was a map called "Falling Tiles", where your objective was to destroy ground under your enemies so that they would fall into the abyss. I think that similar concept would make a great cyber-space themed map :D
Judging by Wisps offensive reply and your continuous trolling it seems that you two are kind of similar. Are you friends in RL or something?
You act so offended and so righteous, you should direct some of that energy elsewere. Really, this is a site dedicated to mapmaking, if you want to offend someone, make a map (map warfare :D), or find some other creative ways of expressing yourself. At least don't derail other threads, pretty please?
These ideas have to be original to Starcraft and warcraft mapmaking.
I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but most ideas have been done in one form or another, you probably just haven't played those maps =P.
I would love someone to create a good sliding game. There are 2 sliding maps that I played on EU battle-net - "Polar Escape" and "Slide Escape Witth Teddy". Both are fun, but feel raw (especially teddy throwing errors at player left and right) and could have better difficulty scaling. After using search bar I also found that there is 3rd map - "Ice Escape OkMaStEr", but player gets only 1 life with possibility of teammates saving him. Good luck finding teammates in new and improved b-net. It's not an original idea, but it's pretty damn fun, and would be great if someone put more thoughts/efforts and polish into this concept.
Idea 3 is to make a fighting game where 8 players have a hero on a highly elevated piece of land and have spells that do knockback damage, when a player is knocked off a cliff they die, each player would have 3 lives
I remember playing minigame party map where DTs were battling at the top of mountain and used knockback spells to throw each other off a cliff. It had lives. It was a long time ago, either during beta or soon after launch.
