that is what i have been doing really... and well... it just act oddly the moment i use my "duplicate" of the default footprint... even if it's totally the same as the default footprint...
i haven't tired changing the default footprints cause i don't wanna break units that may be using those
footprint's Placement Check is the same as the default footprint... the only thing i have changed is in the Placement Apply layer and i have only checked the Block Vision... i have even changed my footprint to totally look like the default footprint... but it still doesn't work
seem to snap to the grid like normal as long as i use the default footprints... as soon as i change it to the footprint that i have made (a duplicate of the default footprint)... it stops snapping to grid...
so the current workaround i have is to change the structure's footprint to one of the default footprints while placing them in the editor... and then change the footprint to my custom one when done... >_<
EDIT: while i was trying my little work around i managed to crash the editor... i had placed some buildings that wasn't snapped to the grid... and then changed the footprint of that building to the default footprint... clicked save and it crashed...
left that as the default Footprint 2x2...
i am just making a copy of the Supply Depot... and trying to make it into a wall... have it working ok... apart from the mentioned problem...
i only really know some of the basics about using the Data-Editor... so i don't know if the placement footprint have to be the same or if it even matter...
i have been having some problems making a footprint...
when i add the new footprint to the structure (unit) it no longer snap to the build-grid in the editor (but does in game)
i haven't been able to find out how to enable the snap to build-grid... but if i change the structure's footprint back to it's default footprint it snaps to the build-grid like normal...
i can hold down Ctrl and get a form of snap grid... but it doesn't allow me to place structures to close together...
as you can see here... there's nothing to really change in the footprint's data... since i hardly changed anything from the default footprint...

ok... so it's a bug... that's good to know :) it's not me going crazy i mean

like i said... Movement: Pathing Footprint - Placement is the default Footprint 2x2... haven't messed with that one

so is there a list somewhere of all the footprints that need to follow the snap to the build-grid or what? anyone know how this work?
