It's hard to say if it's worth it. It's not mindblowingly awesome (like that first time you played StarCraft 1), but if you make an objective comparison about the time/money value then for me it was definitely worth it. I personally like to compare games to going to the cinema, a similar medium. The latter costs me 7,50 for 2 hours of entertainment, Diablo 3, so far, has cost me 55,- for roughly 200 hours of entertainment. That makes the game roughly thirteen times as valuable as going to the cinema.
I didn't hit one with my DH. Are you using elemental damage bonus bracers fitting to your main damage skills?
I started at around 20k damage and 400k toughness on my DH 3 days ago and now I've 75.6k damage, 900k toughness (I had 1 million at some point), 18% poison skill damage and 29% on rapid fire 13% on entangling shot both using a poison damage rune. In solo, I've no troubles in masters now (I'm at the end of act 2 atm, I'm stepping up slowly with laggy laptop and horrible internet connection).
So, maybe you aren't identifying the real damage boosts (skill damage boosts) or you are unlucky. Also, I don't know how many hours I've played... well, I leveled from paragon 20 to 44, so you could use that as a source. Btw, the diamond gem is a great source for resistance, so great that I think that it is too good. So, don't mind about that on your items, just focus on +skills, main stat and vit. Also, I've read somewhere that doing all quests and using the reset quest button gives you a legendary after killing diablo, so you might consider doing that, if it's really in the game already.
I've bought RoS recently. I've played enough D3 to justify its costs and 2.0 made the game much better, so it's a must buy for me.
Well, this is the thing - I'd love to use items with 'the right' damage boosts and all, but nothing's dropping. It's not even as much my vitality that's the issue; I can survive against most rares/elites half-decently. It's just that I need to give it my all to do so and stand up to them for roughly a minute (ability chaining and such). Which wouldn't be an issue if I'd make even just a dent, but by that point I'll have taken all 3 mobs down to 90-95% HP or so. As for the guaranteed legendary; I have been doing that (though it actually drops of Diablo, so really all it means is that you should farm the entire game for optimal loot game rather than just one quest), but even legendaries on Torment 2 seem to barely be upgrades. I just... don't know. I guess I'll give it some more playtime, but so far progression seems tantalizingly slow.
I also have no idea what you people are talking about, so I will definitely have to play it again. Would I do good in making a new character or actually start playing with the ones I have?
You'll be fine. Since all old gear sucks balls now you may get your ass kicked for a bit initially, but after an hour of playtime you'll be at least five times as powerful as you started off, so that's no issue. You may also experience some confusion at first as the choice stress hits you (if you play a max level char out of nowhere it takes at least 30 mins to figure out a build you can use, and past that you'll be adjusting for the next couple of hours), but the game on average is forgiving enough for this not to be a problem.
One note though: if you do make a new char, get a friend to boost you on a high difficulty. You can literally do 1-60 in an evening this way, if you put your mind to it. I got my monk from 30 to 55 in just three hours this way, and we weren't rushing.
i stopped playing d3 actually, but i reinstalled it a few days ago. i immediately fought some monsters on hard, got my ass kicked, then found a weaker mob to kill. I leveled up, picked up 3 pieces of armor that outscaled my current gear by a long shot, and started clearing mobs 10x faster.
idk what they did, but my gear was sooo outdated. it was fun regardless, when i figure out how to add people i'll start adding names in this thread.
Yeah, I had this too. I remember my Wizard's gear being relatively good when I last played him (over a year ago), having gotten some set pieces and awesome yellows off the AH. He had roughly 15.000 damage. Within literally 1 hour of playing I found so many upgrades I went up to 100.000 damage. Shit, my Monk had 15.000 damage at level 48 or such. Old gear is just completely useless now.
Aside from that, while it seems easier to upgrade in general, I've still had some roadblocks. I had a level 60 Barbarian that I got up to roughly 600.000 toughness and 45.000 damage, but he's been at that point for roughly 5 hours of gameplay now without me finding any upgrades whatsoever. This status quo has been similar for all my characters. And it's not like my gear outlevels the content I'm doing: in general, I've got problems soloing Master difficulty yet I do just fine in a group on Torment 2. I tried to check the Blacksmith to see if I could craft something useful, but the couple of legendary plans I found are all pre-level 60 items =|.
I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'll have to fiddle with this regardless; either I'm doing something wrong and I should be able to solo at least Torment 1 with ease, or I need to be finding upgrades left and right.
What this guy said, minus the D2 nostalgia (cause I never played that). I've been playing it again the last couple of days with some palls. Still not sure if it's worth getting the expansion, but maybe I will if we keep playing.
