honestly, my only wish with the popularity system is something that is already planned to be fixed; and that is for active lobbies to be more easily seen. A good map should have a player or two willing to sit and wait for 10 minutes for a game to fill up. If that game is good enough, the people who joined, will want to play again. This will give it more popularity; raise it up the list, it will take less time to fill... ect.
What I really wanted to point out here was the irony. The... hilarious... irony. How can anyone look at the "hours played" for that map, and see "BLIZZARD" rather than an actual popularity rating; and not laugh their ass off? If given the opportunity, I would point in their (whoever was responsible for that idea) face and laugh loud and obnoxiously in a crowded room. That is how hilarious this concept is to me.
The second most hilarious thing about this, is a touch more personal; though I hope quality mappers understand the feeling. Ever play a game, where the creator added cheats to it, for him and his friends; so they could never lose? Or made their favorite race/class/unit/hero extremely strong, so they could use it and never lose? I think the worst kind of mapper or player, is someone who will cheat at a game to beat it (I mean actually cheat, not be amazingly good at using the mechanics of the game to benefit them). This is the equivalent of cheating, IMO. They create a system that we all must use; no one can bend the rules, we all must submit and play their popularity game. But wait, they create something and want everyone to see it. Clearly, if it was advertised well, made well, and the type of game all players would like to play, it should soar to the top of the popularity list in no time. That is what they tell us mappers, right? Just... hilarious.
So, for those of your reading the title, and thinking "Not another @popularity system post" this isn't geared at the popularity system, so much as it is at blizzard. I hope some people out there, at least after reading the above, will see how hilarious this is, and get a good chuckle from it.
I finally understand why... When blizzard makes a map, they can put it as the number 1 map. They have no need for players to actually.. play their map... rack up those hours played. Ohh no. they actually have a system in place that goes outside the rules of the popularity system.
This could be the solution to all of our problems though, right? Wait for blizzard to release all of the games that we want to play. I see no problem with that.
Discuss what has been over discussed. Actually, dont. Discuss the impact of "toilet humor" on modern society. It will please me.
