I thought it was better to have a real world example :D
At first I thought it was the imports. Then I thought it was the length of the mapname. Removing/replacing the whitespaces was the only working solution I could reproduce on different maps.
Hmm strange that you don't have a problem opening them. What operating system do you work with? Could still be that this isn't the solution after all.
I downloaded some custom campaigns, and I was wondering why they opened as green empty maps and I had to open them again from inside the editor. This never happened with my maps... I did some testing and came up with the following conclusion:
2 whitespaces together->dependency data could not be loaded
1 whitepace and a hyphen together->empty green map
1 underscore and 1 whitespace together->OK
1 underscore and 1 hyphen together->OK
I haven't tested any other special characters.
If someone could test this and confirm/deny. If this turns out to be true that I would like to encourage all campaign makers to rename their maps, as there are many players who might not know of any work-around. Remember: Fun is in the details!
This is wrong: Annihilation 14 - The First Step.sc2map
This is good: Annihilation 14_-_The First Step.sc2map
This looks better: Annihilation_14_-_The_First_Step.sc2map
My idea: Fuck the subtitle and be on the safe side: Annihilation14.sc2map
Even better if you make it short as a very long file path+filename might also cause problems: Anni14.sc2map
Hmm I have windows 10 as well. I did my tests on the desktop. Might have something to do with the overall filepath+filename.
