To `evolve` you need to clearly identify in which direction you are lacking and want to improve on.
Thats why.....When you stumble upon something you dont quite understand, You ask for help/search on the forums, Read tutorials, etc etc and get better at it.
I haven`t met anyone yet that is a master at terraining, data, triggers, design AND logic/ai/intelligence balancing. You`re usually going to end up specializing in one or two fields. So, best to evaluate which ones and improve from there with my aforementioned advice. As I do not believe the idea of a "mentor" usually works out(in regards to mastering the editor)
You won't find a "mentor" able to help you in everything. You will need someone good at terraining, someone for data, and so on... So the best advice is to try learning on your own, and when you're stuck, read the forums first (there are much more info here than you can think of!) and if you still don't have the answer, just ask.
If you were asking for a teacher on the Unreal Engine I would have done it with pleasure... I have made maps since the first Unreal game, and since it exists I've seen many versions of this editor (even the version used in Rune)... About the SC2 editor though, I have done maps in SC1, WC2, WC3, FT, and I'm still a bit confused with all the possibilities of the SC2 editor... Even if you find a good mentor, I assume he can't have a perfect knowledge of the whole editor yet.
Thx ...the areas i would like to evolve is triggers and data.
Triggers i wish to learn the conditions and variables things. (I dont know nothing about that)
And data i wish to evolve in the Actors.

I can help with some issues. Though at the moment I am mainly trying to figure out what some of the actor events do.
