Good tutorial, but when it comes to selecting a "Unit type" I can't change it. It's just grayed out, untouchable and says "Generic"...Care to help me out? Also, I think I'm getting that blob rather than a unit, how do I run it as an administrator? I'm not really computer savy...
I actually find duplicating a better option, as it updates some fields properly for you. You just duplicate the unit, and the main actor only (the one that has the unit model). Normally it does the rest for you.
If you ever have trouble the only feilds you really need to watch are the Token field, and the events field in the actor, as these are the two possible locations that link the actor to the unit.
But before we go further you need to look the the right side of your Data Editor and you will see a small box with the title Token.
in that small box you will see Parent, ID, and unitName you will need to replace unitName which should have Marine next to it, you will then replace Marine with the name of you new unit in which my case would by Duke Nukemz
This step doesn't work for me when I have Liberty Story (campaign) and Liberty (campaign) in the Dependencies. The name of the custom unit doesn't appear in the menu I get when I try to change unitName.
It does work when Liberty (Mod) and Liberty Multi (Mod) are the only dependencies. Why would that be? Does anyone know a fix for this?
The order of dependencies is
Liberty Story
campaign
Mod
Multi Mod
which seems to matter for some problems, but not this one.
My character doesn't get any sound when I do this. The model and everything else carried over perfectly, just no sound effects on select and click and all that. Anyone have any ideas? Also for a Marine is there any way I can have him without a combat shield?
Sorry for spamming this video (not mine) They use "Art tab" to connect model and I keep it much better way. Much easier to choose any model you like from list.
How can you do this for a wow model without the marine death animations? i also cant seem to make the custom marine with wow model actor play walk animations....
Thanks
Dang, just 6 days of a fully 2 year later necro. When exporting the WOW model you must specify what animations to export as well. Else you must give the animations to the unit's model via a .m3a file (read the tutorial on those).
I Runned Galaxy Editor as Administrator, and when I test my map, I have again the black&white blob instead of the Marine. T.T"

I think this tutorial is outdated. I couldn't find some of the drop down menu options shown in the pictures.

I thought that too, but if you tinker around with some of the options on how things are displayed it will make some sense.

nice tutorial... now if only the damn editor wouldn't keep crashing...

I thought the same thing about the CUnit option, but u need to tick the box in on the left side of your Data Editor to get it. (Vieuw Raw Data)
