Well he states that you can not lift off the Command Center. Thats why I believe a Behavior or Modify Unit effect is applied to the region. Also if you send an actor message to actors in a region its applied to all of them. The banshees were clearly still at their original height and the Flight Helper models were still hitting the hidden terrain tiles.
Ok sorry about the long delay have a lot going on.
Heres the deal-o Must have what was said by RileyStarcraft was correct to a degree, he said almost everything I thought for the original design =P.
First there was not a single effect or behavior used, as I said, they do not work for this in any way thus I used move actors. The command center does work, however it looks horrible, I could fix this but its not worth the time atm (once I make a melee map it will be however).
Also there is not a single hidden tile on that map. Thats right, the hide terrain cell was not used once. Dont forget the pathing tool does a lot more than just add "no pathing" ^_~
Regions were used at first, however regions were removed, and in place region actors were used for a more dynamic use.
The Game
Currently my main sexy project for the map has been put on hold. I just dont have the time to put everything I wanted into this map, and to release anything short of what I had planned would just be a dumb thing to do, so instead I will be maken a very simple UMS map using the exact terrain you see there. A very simple UMS 2v2 map, A mix of taken out the other two players, while fending off mysterious void creature attacks. -shurgs- Just something to let people play the map. At some point I will finish my first map design, as well as make a simple melee map.
The tutorial
Ive basically said how I was able to do this between all the posts now =P however, I still plan to do a real step by step tutorial, this will have to wait till I perfect the system. Im currently working on a system where you can build those islands anywhere, once this is finished, the system should be working enough to where a tutorial would make sense, Ill be sure to link to it when the time comes.
Molstar, I would like to get onboard of any projects you might be working on. I've seen this before, but I really want something to start my mapping experience, and this sounds like a blast! So...do you need any help w/ the map? Essentially I know I am good with the data editor (new units, etc.) and terraining. anything else I am ready to learn, tho ;D
I think this thread deserves to be bumped! Thanks for doing so, because if you hadn't bumped, I probably would never have seen this... it looks incredible!
