I had the idea to make a map full of small puzzles or riddles, which anyone could contribute to. I also had a few idea for some of the puzzles, so I've started work on the map.
The concept is this:
Each puzzle takes place in a "room" that is a 12x12 square. Each puzzle room is independent from the others, they should not affect each other in any way.
When a puzzle is completed, you will be sent to the next puzzle room. A failed puzzle has to be attempted again.
A puzzle can be pretty much anything as long as it what is required to complete it is thought. And of course, as stated, puzzles must fit in a 12x12 square and not affect other puzzles. It's also important that you do not modify any existing units/abilities/etc, so there won't be conflicts. Create duplicate units and edit those.
So, the idea was that other people can add their own puzzles as long as they adhere to the constraints (though exceptions to room size might be acceptable in certain cases). This will then be a multiplayer map where players solve puzzles, and can either help each other (by offering hints) or race to complete the puzzles fastest.
I drew up a general layout and added two of the puzzles I came up with.
A friend of mine had a similar concept quite some time ago.
The main issue with it is that it lacks replayability. Once the puzzles are solved...well, that's it.
Should be at least somewhat entertaining the first go around, however.
If you had enough puzzles, and they had an element of randomness, and each game only lasted of a fraction of the total puzzles (first player to 8 rooms, etc), the game could be fun.
I have added a room. Some one else's turn now
I also added a "test room" debug trigger. Typing 'r0' will take you to room 0. 'r2' will take you to the one I added. Figured it would get bothersome going through all them each time.
Awesome, another room! I'm going to test it now, then add another of the puzzles I've written down. I have an exam tomorrow though, so I'll have to take a break until Sunday at least.
The test room feature is nice. With 2 puzzles it wasn't a big deal but with many it would quickly get annoying.
Oh, and I should maybe have thought of this before, but perhaps when people add rooms they can add a comment in the room folder with a room name and who made it. So we can keep track of who did what and also have a way to refer to rooms easily.
Nice puzzle. Tricky. It should have a reset button, I think. One question though... What happens when several players are in the same room? They all play the same puzzle instance? That would get really confusing.
Well, I added the new room, put comments with creators and room names (I named the beacon puzzle Beacon Grid Room). I also made the camera bounds limited to the room region, I think it looks better that way. Now I have to eat and study.
Multiple people would mess it up. For puzzles like this- they could spawn in special solo rooms. These could be set up that a number of 'solo' puzzles could spawn in these blank rooms (each player would get their own room).
Reset button for room 2 wouldn't be hard to do.
Good idea on the camera bounds limiting. I was going to suggest this but forgot ;P
Wouldn't it be possible to create multiple beacons on top of each other, and make them cloaked or something, so they only appear to the player who they belong to?

I like this idea.
I'll try to add something tonight.

Yeah, randomness is good.
