This is my latest "attempt" at making a playable map, and I think I may even finish it xDDD :P.
The name is a placeholder, but serves it purpose. The gameplay follows the style of the typical "The Thing", "Who is the Alien?" or "Parasite" maps. One of the players is a disguised xenomorph, and the rest of the players must find who is the fake and kill it before it kills them or transforms them into other xenomorphs.
The main plot is that the Dominion has lost contact with a secret military base. The players, a team of soldiers sent to investigate, crash outside the installations, near a series of mines. There, they find a group of miners and civilians, that worked for the military. They lost contact with the base, that has its main gates closed, and haven't been able to send a transmission due to security restrictions that doesn't let them own any sort of communication device.
Meanwhile, the xenomorph starts inside the base, and has to find some way to escape. Inside the installations, there's still soldiers and scientists, that have gone mad and attack anything they see. The xenomorph looks like a queen, and her main ability is that she can transform into anything she assimilates. She can get research points by infesting npcs, too, and unlock better forms. This adds a new element to the game: protect the civilians or face tons of zombies and stuff. The queen can build troops, too (and yes, she can disguise as those same troops, to confuse the marines).
Finally, there's a security robot, represented by the ARES, that starts inside the base, too. His goal is the same as the marines', only that it can't be infested, and if it gets killed, it can respawn itself in the remaining AI bodies. It can build new bodies, too.
The 3 players can unlock better weapons by killing a series of bosses. In the case of the queen, she has to kill some independent zerg organisms to assimilate them. In the case of the AI, it has to defeat other insane AIs or open security boxes guarded by security systems that it has to destroy. And the final case, that of the marines, is to defeat random insane soldiers around. If someone destroys the boss of other class, he can destroy the reward to avoid the enemy from getting it. The rewards are scattered unguarded around the map, too.
That's the main plot, overall.
I have already made the "skeleton" of the map, and I guess I'll start to terrain or to write triggers next, when I get some time.
This is my current distribution of the map:
MAIN FLOOR
Entrance hall (vehicles)
Starport (spaceships)
Bar (food)
Armory (weapons / suits)
Restaurant and kitchen (food)
UPPER FLOOR
Infirmary (healing, dna tests, de-infectation)
Dormitory
Command and communications center (cameras, doors and elevators control)
Security system room (AI room)
LOWER FLOOR
Power room (power control)
Air filter engine room (oxygen control)
Laboratory
Biodome number 1
Biodome number 2
Biodome number 3
Biodome number 4
OUTSIDE
Open space, various groups of houses and warehouses, with some mining holes around (food, weapons / suits)
The rooms are all isolated from each other, and you need to take elevators to move into other rooms. Inside those rooms, there's smaller rooms, that are separated from each other by the typical doors.
Well, that's most of it. I think you can imagine the setting, more or less :P.
Well, I had that in mind since the very first moment, and I think it's solved with the bosses and random "mad" enemies around.
Basically, if you stay at your corner and don't do anything, the other players will, and you will get pwned badly. For example, if you leave civilians unchecked, when you come back they may be an army of zerg. Same for marines and weapons and the AI and its upgrades.
It's a "technology race".
Also, forgot to write it, I plan on adding a counter, like an 1 hour or 30 minutes, or free to decide, where the station explodes or something, so you must make haste in getting a transport ship and getting out, avoiding the alien to do the same, of course.
Finally, most of those "mad" enemies will pop and patrol around randomly, forcing you to stay alert and giving some action.

Opinions and/or suggestions? :)
The maps of this style I've played so far are way to passive...Make sure you give the players something to do constantly.
@zeldarules28: Go
Agreed completely with this. I recommend having constant waves of enemy units coming at the players to keep them busy.
