One of my recent projects (Heavy WIP might I add) will include a particular mission with a Xel'Naga machine sub-faction (Nothing that big, I warn you early) meaning there'll be a production structure for them. The most closer model I have for this structure is the Shakuras Archive, the bonus objective players are to defend during the 'In Utter Darkness' mission in WoL.
I tried re-skinning but I only got close, and then I tried importing it into Max 2010 without any success, due to the freaking 'get undefined' error.
If anyone can import it, can you please reskin the model so it's emmitting green energy and lines and crystals instead of red-orange?
I'm just learning to reterxture somethings (I'm doing some retexture works for a very WIP single player campaign I'm working on) and I'd like to know how to "erase" that "color tint" the model forces some parts because it's not the only one model which does it.
Cacho's right on that matter. Tex Set by ID can only get you so far when it comes to re-skinning something. On more extreme cases, you have to directly get the .m3 to shove in the change you want.
There's only the orange lines on when the Archive's bunkered down, as well as the semi-transparent red tech cubes you can see up close and the red glow within the cylinder structure, but all I wanted (The green tech readout) is here, and that's good enough. Thanks a lot, Cacho.
I used Println's blender addon to import the model and altered every material layer color that already had a configured color. I've done the same with the particle systems. It's not hard, but kind of annoying since you have to check every material layer and particle system one by one.
EDIT: I've updated the model. Now there isn't any orange trails. It's in my assets page.

You can do this in game with the Texture Set By ID method

I'm not completely sure if he can do it with that method. The model forces the tint to be orange.
