A 1v1 Melee map. Has 3 paths on each half, one blocked by rocks. It has two watch towers overlooking the center. There is a main, natural, distant expansion, blocked expansion, island (land island) expansion, and gold. This should make for an epic map with the different paths, the size, and the minerals. I've tried to make it look as awesome as I could with trees and so on. Hope you like it.
Ok, so I used to make SC1 maps here and there, and I've been watching SC2 for a long long time, and I decided to make a map. It's my first one using the SC2 editor, and as such may not be all that great. I think it will be fun though. Anyway, I don't think it's ready for release yet, but here is the above image of it:

I've done a few updates with suggestions, but before releasing an update, I'd like to get some feedback.

I added a ramp behind the gold that goes to the second expansion to open up a different path. I also slightly expanded the choke in the middle, and moved the one tower in the center to the top of the cliff edges. I also added a loss of vision patch next to the second expansion, but close enough to the towers that it can be seen. You get the risk/reward system of a surprise attack, or getting seen by the tower.
I disagree with sixen because they would be far too easy to defend then, the high yield should be a bit difficult to hold.
That being said however the map as it is now might favor terrans that lift off and land at the high yield. With that distance it won't take long to lift over there.
Personally I would say make the expansions that are opposite of the mains the high yield expansions. So that when the enemy comes down the middle if you lose control of the choke then it would be very vulnerable. Not to mention reaper / colossus / cliff drop will be efficient against it.
I agree on the high yield being too close. (I was a little worried about that, but I was thinking maybe a shorter rush distance with the delayed resources would even things out for the first bit. At least enough time the other player to get the natural.) But, the rush distance actually isn't all that much shorter. So, I've changed it a little. I'm just going to post a link so the page doesn't get stretched. I'm also going to edit the first post to show the new pic. (and a slight update)
It's awaiting approval still, but should be up sometime. (Note, it's already uploaded to blizzard's servers from the map editor. Is there some way to publicize the map that's on the official servers?)

Sorry bringing up such an old post, but I've noticed that this map is showing up really high in the popularity of the US blizzard server if you click the join game and filter it to melee and 1v1. Is that just on my pc? (It's in the top 10 if you don't count blizzard maps, It was on the third show more for me when I last checked.)
I'd really like to know if it is actually getting that much popularity, or if it's just showing that way to me for some reason. Has anyone that's reading this played it? Did you have fun with it? Do you have any replays you'd like to share, cause I'd really like to see some if they were even semi-good games. ^_^

It was pretty low on popularity for me but ill give it a play or two when my friend comes on. Doesn't feel like a very "zerg friendly map" but ill still play it :P. Wont be till later tonight though, i have a family gathering to go to.
Edit: Certainly deserves to be higher than most of these other maps lmao
Edit2: I played the map with a friend (that sucks) and a one thing to note. The mineral and gas placements are pretty bad. My hatchery could not be placed at an optimal location for gas and minerals i would have to choose one, which increases the time for my drones to carry back minerals/gas. idk if the other minerals are mirrored the same way but it was very inconvenient. And actually annoying.
I would upload the video but i messed up my build order and the person i vsd against sucked so it was a slaughter. Please please fix the minerals/gas though :] Ill upload a good replay soon

Whoa, that looks awesome! I'm lovin' it. You could even turn this into a 2v2, and put the allies in the middle two expansions.
Anyway, I think you should make the blocked off expansions high yield as opposed to the ones directly near the start locations. Just personal though.
