I have created a random maze generation algorithm that generates random square mazes, with a specificable size
It's based on the Depth-first search algorithm. I also made it remove some random walls to give the maze more routes to the exit, otherwise the route to the exit was sometimes pretty straightforward.
The thirdperson engine is a slightly adapted version of martin olssen's engine, so credits to him. Also I have created some powerups.
Not sure if i'll continue this project like this, because the third person is still kinda sloppy because of bnet when you play it online.
It looks cool when you generate the maze....from there its not so good. The walls are super ugly and as you stated 3rd person shooters arent that good in bnet...so I suggest doing something else (maybe pacman or somehintg :E) The walls might not looks so ugly from above?
I wrote a dungeon generator using a depth-first search algorithm a couple months ago (not for Starcraft II). If you're not going to be using this, I wouldn't mind working on something with it. Or, alternatively, we could work together. I would be looking to make something more akin to a dungeon crawler with a standard camera. :)
That's what I was thinking... this has a lot of potential for dungeon crawlers like Diablo-style RPGs which use randomly generated dungeons as their bread and butter. Very cool.
Of course the major roadblock is the texturing of the objects which I imagine is not very intuitive for the average map-maker (such as myself). What about clipping issues?

Well, currently the walls are only untextured objects, that can be changed to something nicer.
