I have a few ideas that I thought would make good maps but either I messed it up, or didn't have the time at the moment. One is a Mario style where you go through levels jumping over obstacles and killing a few opponents along the way. I started this one, but i messed up the jump ability so I just didn't want to take any more time on it. Another idea is to make a tycoon style map. This would be something like a zoo or a builder. For example, for a zoo, you would place "animals" which would be random sc2 units into an enclosed area so that they can't escape. Then you have to make sure that their needs are well kept making sure that they are fed and have toys. then you have to make shops to make visitors (which increase in number as your zoo gets better) happy and if they are not happy then your visitor count goes down. All of this costs resources and if you run out you lose. These are just some ideas, but I think they could be fun if made right.
I feel like making the tycoon type game is easier to do in the editor. You could make a potentially complex game on SC2. It could be fun if done well but will be quite a lot of work to make it complex. A Mario game is rather hard to do in the editor. Making smooth looking jump abilities isn't easy and having it trigger based could be disastrous with the b.net lag. Also giving it a sidescroller feel would be a lot of work and making it 3D would be difficult to make an interesting environment. I feel like the tycoon game has a lot more potential. Making a Mario game is likely to fail but is possible if you spend a ton of time polishing.
For the first idea: Actually there is already a map trying to recreate a mario game feeling, but it seems to be inactive (since the last post was made 2012) and it has big problems with the input latency.
The second one sounds pretty good to me :D
Some general question at the end: Do you search for people helping you with these maps or do you want other people to do them on their own?

I want them to do the maps on their own as I have lost interest in making them for the moment.
