We aim to be the largest team of editors sc2mapster has seen!
1.What region do you play in? US
2.What time zone are you, and what hours are you available? Eastern timezone usually from about 8am to 8pm, and may jump back on after a movie or two with the wife around 10 on til 2-3 in the morning lol..
3.What are some methods of contact(msn, skype, AIM, etc..)? my in game id is 558. giving out my number is another way but that depends. Skype sux oovoo is better. and that can be another way.
4.What are you doing for this project? I am making a tug of war, but everyone esle who is apart of this team pretty much has their own projects as well. The goal of this team is to answer questions as best as we can, and to be a group of editors willing to help.. unlike most. Ultimately, we want to see awesome uses of imagination and effort.
5.What roles do you need filled? I personally need help with balancing costs. and spawn times as well as a few other issues.
6.What do you have done on the map up to this point? I have made the terrain. I have completed most of the triggers, a killboard, unit data, with the exception of the kill/scoreboard carrying over into future games and unit life/armor amounts for balancing...
My map is called Lunar Axis of Chaos, I intend to take the spot of nexus wars on the popularity list.
Please try to include images or videos. There is an image attached in my profile as well as an up to date publish in-game.
But over the top we are looking for anyone interested in helping and contributing.
7.A description of the project/team itself so people know what they're getting into.
This team is made up of "nice" people who do not have a chip on their shoulder about getting and providing help.
8.How much time are you willing to invest in this project per week?
I am on here a lot, so much so that my wife has gotten used to me "being in my corner".
9.Who else is working on the project? BravoJuliet, TWOwords, Neebs, Firefly, Darkoblivion, darkwalker, TRENT, Lazarus, and xkennyx... Hopefully will all be apart of this team... and hopefully u will too.
Please: edit your profile pic to something snazzy and download teamviewer at teamviewer.com for the us to be able to help eachother most accurately.
"The goal of this team is to answer questions as best as we can, and to be a group of editors willing to help.. unlike most. Ultimately, we want to see awesome uses of imagination and effort."
That line puts me off a bit. It sounds quite abstract - The sheer volume of knowledge available on the forums here certainly outweighs any troubleshooting taskforce anyone could put together. While "most" editors might not be the helpful type, it is logically safe to assume any "team" put together to be a private self-help resource would be smaller than the grand majority of the forums. If anything, it might make answering questions harder, as to not "fall back on the forums and their majority of unhelpful folks".
The forums are sufficiently useful, imo. Don't fix it if it ain't broken, right? Not trying to shut you down or anything, but if the entire community is available to help (and ask help from) everyone they can, everyone will benefit, not just a certain community within the community.
ya there is a lot of great knowledge here on this web site but the problem is it is like sifting for gold, you will spend 30 minutes to a hour before your get your nugget of information. I personally look at sc2mapster not so much as a great place to learn the editor, but kinda the only place. It's like the school library for doing research projects, unfortunately our library is not organized in any great way, and most of the threads are answered in ways that beginner users just can not understand. Anyways enough of dealing with troll, yes darc i am interested.
I agree with you Trokka,
but it did seem like u were trying to make the cause and intentions of my team pointless.
Think what you want but I think that it is nice to have a spot where u know you will be considered, rather than doubted from the beginning and spit to the wolves. Map editing is hard and if you have the answers you should definitely publish what you know. If you had a question someone wants the answer..
The dictionary came from somewhere.. we don't hear webster tellin people to "go figure it out".
Oh no way man, I wasn't saying your team concept is pointless at all. I just read your description on your team page and it's a bit more clarified for me now - I thought it was proposing a completely separate community team of people to keep solutions for themselves, that's my mistake for misinterpreting what you said.
Glad to see the helpful vibe alive and well, though :D
I guess i could expect skepticism.
Had i been more familiar with the issues that are common here, as i am assuming many people come up with radical but still illogical ones. The idea of a seperate team is interesting but, with the intentions you speak of, not so much. perhaps an honest effort to make dictionary of all things you can do to all things.
I know there is a scwiki and other sorts. but i guess this idea would definitely involve the "free contributions" of knowledge on editor subjects and more than just the people in my developing team..
I'm all for it if someone gets it started lol but we would all be just dots of ink compared to a giant masterpiece... by the time it was complete..sc would probably be finished and that makes sense because problems are always being discovered.
I'd like to join Team Genesis. I'm an advanced trigger editor and have general experience over the other areas as well. I'm okay with doing whatever I'm told to but I greatly prefer participating in the creation of original maps or classic maps that haven't been made adequately for SC2 yet. I'm also okay with helping people out, and I wouldn't mind if there's less experienced people in the team. I have no finished maps, only projects. I'll provide more info if you're interested thus far.
Ok, what role would you like to have?
Did you add me in-game yet?
I am working on a map that needs a lot of help.. things that take time that I do not really have and triggers I do not know. I have had a lot of help with this map but it seems that the team has become quite silent in the past couple of days. Look forward to hearing from you.
Oh, I saw ur profile has no maps atttched to it.. can you please? id like an idea of what you enjoy doing.
I'd like to have a role related to triggers. I have added you, I'll send you a message next time I see you on. I'd love to help you with your map.
I've attached a map to my profile. Its unfinished and only the framework of a map but it embodies my style and the level of customization I like to incorporate into my maps.
If you try my map out, please note:
-the abilities are trigger-made
-the custom UI should work for all resolutions but I haven't checked the latest changes
-its target based; you pick your target then use an ability, also pressing tab cycles through the targets
