The map is there. Download it into your SC2 Maps folder and give it a test. It's already on the B-net servers, so host it as you please. My only request is that you bring back feedback and information and let me know that you've tried it. I'd like to get enough community aid here to form some testing times, where we can all jump on and get a couple games going, both for testing and popularity. Thankfully this game can be played solo, so if you're more of a lone wolf (like myself, to be honest) feel free to experiment on your own.
I'd also like some advice for how to best make use of the popularity system. I'd rather not 'boost', since I suspect I could get banned from the game for that, but any other advice is appreciated. What websites are good to advertise on? What's a good way to go about said advertising? What's a solid goal to reach for games per hour before it really starts to take off?
I've heard 5 minute games seem to be the perfect length for a game (popularity system wise), but mine lasts roughly 26 minutes on normal game speed (which is still fairly short, but five times the optimal length). I think once people start playing it, things will maintain themselves pretty well. Everybody that I've played the game with loves it, both in my private beta and back in the old WC3 days when the 'original' version existed.
Well, as a beta tester for many maps, the way I "boost" is tell all my friends to host a game of the map I want to boost right after a popularity reset and then immediately start it. Rinse and repeat. This gave the map I boosted around 40 games an hour, and then things went up on its own. You shouldn't worry that much about 26 min game. One of the map I beta tested lasts approximately 1 hour 30 min to the most, and now it's 126 games an hour average, but it's popularity bar is still full. Another game I beta tested lasted 10 minutes, but it wasn't very popular. All I can say is that it mostly depends on the gameplay, not the length. But if you make a map that's short and fun, like BattleCraft, you'll get top of the list for sure.
