Basically, what the title says. In the beta I was able to extract the GameData files with the MPQ editor and replace with my modded files. In skirmish, whatever race I modded would have the desired effects: Cost reduction, build time reduction, more health, regenerate health etc...
I was wondering if the same thing is possible with the retail copy?
I have already tried replacing Liberty.SC2MOD with my custom files but the game won't take. I knew it wouldn't be that easy..
Which Core.SC2 is it that I need to extract? There are two of those; under version/Patch.SC2 and the other one in Mods.
Now, I went ahead and extracted the GameData folder from Core.SC2 and the files are incomplete. The UnitData AbilData etc. are not the complete files as they are in Liberty.SC2.
Do you have any links to tutorials or have any example mods? I can't seem to find any for the retail copy..
You want to replace the one under Mods, Corse.SC2Mod > Base.SC2Data. But keep in mind, doing this won't be feasible for everyone else, it'll only affect you.

Anyway, thanks for the help!
It should work exactly the same. You should've needed to replace Core though, not Liberty.
