Guys, is it possible to make a custom decal and make it actually show on a unit? I've imported the image in 256x256 in the .DDS format already, now I only need to know how to utilize it as a decal. I've tried replacing one decal's image but in the map properties it still shows the old one.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's me being fast and not using the search function agiain. I've found instructions. If anyone else wants to know (copied from instructions, this is not what I am doing):
1.Open up the StarCraft II Editor and load up what map you want to add the custom decal
2.If you don't know what decal you want to replace AND/OR don't know what its file name is open
the data editor and look at them in "Data Type: Textures"
3.Rename the custom decal you want to use to match that of the standard decal you want to replace
(Example: I'm replacing Mira's Mercs terran decal with my UED one, so I rename decal_terran_UED
to decal_terran_0014_01)
4.Go to "Import", and go up to "Data", "Import Files"(or CTRL I), browse to where you keep the renamed
custom decal and uncheck everything in the box except your custom decal. And in "Import Path"
type "Assets/Textures". Click OK and then save your map(you have to save to finalize the import,
i.e. anything you import won't show up in the editor untill you save the map.
5.Now it's in your map and you can either set it to whichever player/unit/thing you want either through the
Map/Player Properties box or double clicking the chosen object itself and setting it in the Textures
tab.
Um... I've followed those instructions exactly like they are written, the only thing different is I replaced another decal, but the editor keeps showing the old one altough it's a completely different file, it even changed the image from mine to that decal in the "Import" section O_O. What do I have to do?
EDIT: I've fixed the problem where it was showing the old image in the "import" section and in the browser when you are selecting which decal you want. While I was doing the entire process, I selected another random decal as an image for the one I wanted to replace so it doesn't mess anything up, and now when I change it back to the new decal whose name is exact like the old decal, it still shows that decal. And comes up with this error message:
Marine Assets\Units\Terran\Marine\Marine.m3; Could not find texture with id Decal_Terran_0021_01 and expression 1.
Ok, the another problem is fixed, and the error message doesn't pop up. In player properties, now it DOES show my desired decal, but on the units on the editor, it keeps showing the old one D:. I'll try and restart the editor.
EDIT: In the editor it doesn't show, but ingame it does, altough if I restart the editor it is back to the default decal everywhere D:.
