i never got spam-emails on the email account i used for SC2MAPSTER.
At/after the downtime of Sc2Mapster-website i got about 3 Spam emails, telling me that there were made several changes at my BNET account. I was prompted to log in to my BNET account if i didn't make the changes. (The link sounded official but of course was a faked site.)
There is no other relation of BNET or SC2 with that specific email adress. (Also no social networks like facebook...)
Did anyone else experienced something related?
Greetings
TimSin
PS:
Before the Spam emails i trusted this declaration of sc2mapster / curse:
"We can reassure you that at no time during the hardware failure was any of your personal information compromised. We take the sacred trust you put in us with your information VERY seriously."
Never any spam for me. But when I look at your profile, I can see your email address. I don't know if that's because I'm a mod, but I'm pretty sure anybody can see it. So anybody can get your email right off the website.
Oh the other hand, that is kind of weird. Curse didn't contact any of the mods as far as I know, although I believe Sixen was notified of the situation. So I guess its possible they were hacked or something, although I'm pretty confident they were not. Like I said, I can see your email address anyway, so it's not like I'd have to hack the website and steal it or anything.

Feel free to Send me a PM if you have any questions/concerns!
Since curse specifically state that no mass info is leaked during the downtime, plus the fact that not everyone reports seeing spam email after that, I could conclude that you email might be leaked from other curse network site or even from this one. (once you registered on mapster, the same email/username will be used for other site in the curse networks)
Even though staff members can see you email, I can assure you that we never disclose that information.
Well, seems like not many got spam at all. I got a few spams but i didn't reply to them at all and they stopped already. So considering noone else got spam and mine already stopped, i think there is no big deal. :)

I've got a mapster specific email and I've never had any spam on that account.

I can't see his email.
Email addresses are only visible to moderators.
oh. Well that would explain it. No further arguments.=/
